NEW YORK, NY, September 19, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Nancy L. Yang with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Ms. Yang celebrates many years' experience in her professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Yang's distinguished career in the arts and academia spans several decades, marked by leadership roles, international recognition and a commitment to fostering cross-cultural artistic exchange. Since 2021, she has served as a consultant for the Pastel Society of America, where she provides guidance on exhibitions and organizational initiatives. In addition to her consulting role, Ms. Yang continues to coordinate major international projects, including acting as coordinator and board member for Taiwan work at the Pastel Association of Taiwan since 2019. In this capacity, she oversees collaborations between artists from Taiwan, the U.S. and Europe, leveraging her multilingual abilities to facilitate communication and cultural understanding.
Before dedicating herself fully to the arts, Ms. Yang built a successful career in higher education administration at Purchase College, State University of New York. She served as the director of the department of computer services from 1983 to 1996, overseeing the technological infrastructure and support services for faculty and students. Her earlier role on campus included serving as an analyst in the same department between 1979 and 1983.
Ms. Yang's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in 1970 and a master's degree in 1971 from the University of California, Berkeley. She further refined her artistic skills through certification coursework with Daniel Greene Workshop in both 1998 and 2000. This experience proved formative under the mentorship of Daniel Greene, one of the world's leading pastelists, and Wende Caporale, who encouraged Ms. Yang's early development as a portrait artist.
Throughout her artistic journey, Ms. Yang has been actively involved with numerous professional organizations. She is a member of the American Artists Professional League, the Allied Artists, the North American Pastel Artists Association, and Audubon Artists Inc. She also holds a signature membership with both the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of Spain and is a past president and former board member of the Pastel Association of Taiwan. During her tenure as the president of the Pastel Association of Taiwan, Ms. Yang elevated the association's profile on the global stage and organized and led several international exhibitions, most notably the International Invitational Pastel Exhibitions in Taiwan in 2014 and 2017. Additionally, she has been affiliated with the Salmagundi Club, a New York City art gallery, as a member. In 2024, she received the Friend of Pastel Award from the Pastel Society of America.
Ms. Yang's career is distinguished by significant achievements on the international stage. She coordinated Taiwan's participation as a featured country at the International Pastel Show hosted by the Spanish Pastel Association in 2020, where her artwork was prominently displayed on event materials, including posters, invitations and catalogs. She also played a pivotal role as co-planner and co-executor of the Sixth International Pastel Artists and Japanese Multiple Media Invitational Exhibition in Taipei later that year, managing complex logistics, including the publication of a catalog involving over 100 artists from 15 countries.
Adding to her success, Ms. Yang's creative works have been exhibited widely, including at the Allied Artists' 108th Annual Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in 2021, where her painting "Bountiful X" received the prestigious Pastel Society of America Award for Pastel. She was also exhibited at other venues, such as the Chan Liu Art Museum in Taipei and at SOKI Art Exhibitions in Tokyo.
Ms. Yang's contributions have been recognized through numerous awards. She received two international awards at major pastel competitions, received a Best in Show Award in 2003, a Silver Award for Pastel Painting in 2012, a Richard Pionk Memorial Award in 2014, and, among others, won an Award for Pastel at Allied Artists' 108th Exhibition in 2021. She credits her success to dedicated teachers, wholehearted effort and an enduring passion for art.
Looking ahead, Ms. Yang plans to continue painting, particularly floral subjects, and traveling while working on creative projects, such as an upcoming three-person exhibition that will span two gallery spaces in the Chang Gung Health and Culture Village.
