In 2023, Dr. Zolfaghari held the position of assistant professor at Osaka University in Japan, where he continued his commitment to academic excellence by engaging in departmental research projects and guiding student research initiatives. From 2022 to 2023, he served as a research associate at Waseda University, where his work centered on innovative research projects in cryptography and furthering his impact in the computer engineering realm.

Also gaining valuable experience and furthering his impact in Canada, Dr. Zolfaghari received a postdoctoral research fellowship from the University of Guelph in 2021. There, he focused on cutting-edge research in cryptographic hardware and security protocols. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in India, where he contributed significantly to advancements in cryptographic algorithms and hardware security.

Before embarking on his international academic journey, Dr. Zolfaghari accumulated more than a decade of teaching experience in his home country of Iran, where he taught a variety of courses across undergraduate and graduate programs before relocating to the United States.

Dr. Zolfaghari's equally robust educational background has been pivotal in shaping his distinguished career. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in computer engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) in Tehran, Iran, which provided him with the theoretical foundation and practical skills necessary for high-level research and teaching in cybersecurity and cryptography. Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, he previously obtained a master's degree in computer engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2006 after completing a bachelor's degree in computer engineering at the same institution in 1998.

In addition to impacting the lives of students all over the world as a professor, Dr. Zolfaghari has achieved significant recognition for his scholarly contributions. He is particularly proud of his book on cryptographic hardware, titled "Statistical Trend Analysis on Physically Unclonable Functions," which spent approximately two years ranked as the best book ever published in that field by BookAuthority — a highly reputable reference for ranking books based on expert opinion. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to cryptographic hardware, he was honored with the ScienceFather Best Researcher Award.

Dr. Zolfaghari is also the author or co-author of more than 80 influential papers and books on topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing. Cited more than 1,000 times on Google Scholar, his innovative work has also led to several algorithm-related patents that were registered with the Iranian State Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties in 2011.

As a balance to his professional endeavors, Dr. Zolfaghari enjoys studying history and mathematics as well as walking, hiking and poetry.
