In 2018, she assumed a leadership role at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Atlantic City where she continued to demonstrate her expertise and commitment to patient care, regulatory compliance and clinical pharmacy. Her desire to advance patient care became evident through her close collaboration with physicians, nurses and patients in both critical care and emergency room settings. During her time as a manager, she also lead her team and participated in community vaccination programs during the COVID-19 epidemic. Dr. Varughese considers her work improving outcomes for the most critically ill among her most significant professional achievement. She now works at Hackensack-Meridian Network as a pharmacist.

Prior to leadership roles, Dr. Varughese worked as a clinical pharmacist at AtlantiCare in Pomona, New Jersey, where she provided direct patient care, conducted medication therapy management and participated in multidisciplinary rounds in critical care and emergency medicine. Her focus on evidence-based practice and patient advocacy helped optimize therapeutic outcomes for diverse patient populations.

Subsequently, Dr. Varughese relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she served as a pharmacy supervisor for AtlanticCare, managing daily workflow, supervising pharmacists and technicians and contributing to the development of best practices within the department. Her efforts supported the organization's mission to provide high-quality healthcare services. Dr. Varughese then pivoted into the role of pharmacy manager from 2019 to 2025. In this capacity, she oversaw pharmacy operations, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective medication therapy while mentoring staff and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Dr. Varugheses's professional journey began as a staff pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy in 2005, where she gained foundational experience in community pharmacy operations, patient counseling and medication safety.

Dr. Varughese's academic background has been integral to her success. She earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, which was conferred in 2005. She later acquired a Master of Science in pharmacy with a concentration in clinical toxicology from the University of Florida in 2017.

Active in her professional community, Dr. Varughese is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, reflecting her commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards. She has also joined NJ Health-System Pharmacist leadership positions for the local regional Southern chapter as well as the NJ delegate for ASHP House of Delegates 2020 to 2022.

Throughout her career, Dr. Varughese has credited her achievements to pharmacist mentors, continuous learning and the support of colleagues.
