Mr. Elmy's expertise extended beyond corporate responsibilities as he became a sought-after product litigation expert witness in the early 1980s. Leveraging his deep knowledge of power equipment and safety standards, he provided critical insights in legal proceedings until his retirement. From 2002 to 2010, he operated his own business as a litigation expert and consultant for power equipment, offering specialized guidance on complex technical matters.
Throughout his career, Mr. Elmy was actively involved in advancing industry safety standards. He served as committee chairman for the Safety Standards Committee for Outdoor Power Equipment in both the United States and Europe under the American National Standards Institute during the early 1990s. His work with the American National Standards Institute began in 1974, reflecting a long-standing dedication to improving safety protocols within the industry. His commitment to international collaboration led him to participate in safety standard initiatives in London, Stockholm, Berlin and Brussels.
Mr. Elmy's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He also completed all coursework toward a master's degree in engineering administration, further enhancing his managerial capabilities and strategic vision.
Among his many achievements, Mr. Elmy is most proud of receiving the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute Achievement Award in 1996, which recognized his significant impact on industry standards and product safety. He attributes his professional success to hard work, consistently giving more than he receives and treating others with respect—principles that have guided his interactions throughout his career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Elmy has demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement as a donor to various charities. His contributions reflect a broader dedication to community well-being and social responsibility.
Mr. Elmy values family life and cherishes spending time with his son and daughter and his wife of 65 years. He enjoys relaxing at home and looks forward each year to traveling to Florida with his son and family.
