PURCELLVILLE, VA, September 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret Boone Rappaport, PhD, co-founder of The Human Sentience Project LLC, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the June 2025, Washington, DC, regional issue of TIME magazine.

Dr. Margaret Boone Rappaport, a co-founder of The Human Sentience Project LLC, draws upon decades of professional experience and has applied her expertise recently to work in artificial intelligence (AI), human cognitive evolution, space science, anthropology and religion. Focusing her attention on the origin of religion and morality, Dr. Rappaport has collaborated with astronomer Christopher Corbally, S.J., to disseminate knowledge through books, articles and speaking engagements worldwide. They have published innovative works, such as "Space Science and Astronomy Theatre" in 2017 and "The Emergence of Religion in Human Evolution" in 2021.

Dr. Rappaport and Rev. Corbally will soon debut their most recent book, "Off-World Ecotheology: Roles for Religion in Space Settlement," with their colleague, Prof. Riccardo Campa. Ecotheology examines the relationship between religion and environmental protection and its importance as humans fan out to settle the solar system. In a recent study, Dr. Rappaport and Rev. Corbally examine the benefits of safe nuclear power in lunar and Martian settlements and potentially on Earth, where AI draws enormous amounts of energy. Dr. Rappaport leverages her understanding of the biblical parables and scriptures to promote the acceptance of technological change. She is committed to using theology to enhance environmental protection on- and off-world. Recent publications highlight the utility of understanding human neuroscience in developing AI with an eye toward ethics. She asks, "Can we install human morality, and if we can, is it ethical not to do so?"

Earlier in her career, Dr. Rappaport was a contractual consultant in Washington, DC, between 1975 and 2005, specializing in minority health issues. She completed a National Science Foundation public service science residency at DC General Hospital. Her research led to her most cited publication, "Social and Cultural Factors in the Etiology of Low Birthweight among Disadvantaged Blacks," in 1985 and her book, "Capital Crime: Black Infant Mortality in America," in 1989. She taught at the university level for 15 years at prestigious institutions, such as Georgetown University and George Washington University. Additionally, Dr. Rappaport founded two businesses and served as president of the first called Policy Research Methods, Incorporated, from 1986 to 2006.
