Mr. Whitaker has dedicated over four decades to the field of safety management, currently serving as the environmental health and safety manager at Mid American Steel & Wire and Oklahoma Steel & Wire Inc. since 2014. In this role, he oversees all aspects of safety training and management within the organization, ensuring a safe and well-regulated environment for employees. His responsibilities include selecting personal protective equipment, maintaining up-to-date safety data sheets, conducting internal inspections, administering workers' compensation and managing safety committees. Additionally, he plays a key role in overseeing operations at Oklahoma Steel & Wire, where his team specializes in producing wire products and agricultural fencing materials.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Whitaker was the environmental health and safety manager at American Woodmark Corporation from 2010 to 2014. During this time, he continued to build on his expertise in workplace safety by implementing comprehensive safety programs and fostering a culture of safety awareness among employees. His efforts contributed significantly to the company's reputation for maintaining high safety standards.

From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Whitaker served as a safety manager at USS-Posco Industries under United States Steel Corporation. His tenure there was marked by his collaboration with the union to raise safety awareness. His career also includes roles with Joint Venture Steel Mill, Redwood Lumber Company, Omni Services, Thomson Consumer Electronics (now Vantiva) and Reynolds Consumer Products as a plant supervisor for safety and environment.

Dedicated to workplace safety, Mr. Whitaker is most proud of successfully overseeing operations exceeding one million man-hours without a single recordable accident at multiple sites across the United States. He also takes pride in serving on an OSHA advisory council alongside Charles Jeffers, contributing to critical discussions aimed at improving safety standards within the furniture industry. Partnering with an environmental organization, he helped draft the EPA's first Maximum Achievable Control Technology Standard for the furniture sector.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Whitaker has been an active instructor with the National Rifle Association of America since 1979. He is also dedicated to mentorship through his work with the Boy Scouts, where he has guided numerous scouts to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served as a chief range safety officer, training individuals on how to operate and manage shooting ranges, and he enjoys shooting pistols in his free time. Civically, he follows both the Moravian Church and Unity Church and donates to various nature and science centers.

Mr. Whitaker's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in safety engineering from Kennedy-Western University in 2003 and two associate degrees from Vermont Technical College (now Vermont State University) in electronics and electromechanical systems and civil engineering. Complementing his degrees, he earned a Certified Safety Professional designation in 1996, which has been instrumental in his career success. His vast contributions to the industry have been recognized with various awards, such as Safety Professional of the Year for the San Francisco Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals in 2010.
