Before his work with Ventura County, Mr. Seto was employed at BDM International Inc. from 1986 to 1991 as a senior staff member, systems safety engineer, nuclear surety engineer, test engineer and program manager. These positions provided him with technical expertise and project management experience that proved invaluable throughout his subsequent career.
Mr. Seto academic foundation was established at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography in 1978. The discipline and analytical skills acquired during his studies contributed significantly to his success both in the military service and as an entrepreneur. During his college years, Mr. Seto was exposed to the game of squash for the first time. He finished his first year as the number two player on the freshman team. His game quickly developed to finish his sophomore season as the number one player on the Navy's varsity team, where they stayed for his junior and senior. His squash career at the Academy culminated by being selected to the All-American collegiate squash team, consisting of the top ten collegiate players in North America.
Today, Mr. Seto maintains active membership in several professional organizations, include the Global Chamber of Baltimore/Washington and the US Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation. For three years, he served as the president of the Santa Barbara chapter of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association, helping to strengthen connections among alumni and support initiatives that benefit both graduates and current Midshipmen. Mr. Seto also serves as a board member for an environmental careers non-profit organization and volunteers as an assistant squash coach for the Academy's squash club team. In 2018, he became chairman of Friends of Navy Squash, a support organization for the Navy's varsity squash program both financially and mentorship to Midshipmen. His leadership has been instrumental in providing Midshipmen with mentorship, guidance and career advice. Under Mr. Seto's stewardship, alumni participation at the annual alumni matches have tripled, and have set record highs in fund raising for three years in a row.
Among his many achievements, Mr. Seto is especially proud of maintaining a viable business for over 25 years, a testament to his resilience and adaptability in a competitive field. He attributes his enduring success to an openness toward risk-taking and seizing opportunities as they arise, believing that calculated risks are essential for meaningful achievement even if not every endeavor yields immediate results.
Looking ahead, Mr. Seto is pursuing a new business venture related to electrical motor technology through his current enterprise, CJSeto Support Services LLC. His goal is to introduce innovations that will revolutionize energy efficiency worldwide, enabling substantial cost savings for users across global markets.
