For the preceding four years, Ms. Tran served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Products for Transaction Banking at Goldman Sachs. In this capacity, she was recruited to build a new business from scratch, leveraging her expertise in both finance and technology. Prior to this, she held the position of Global Head of B2B Credit and Business operations at Amazon between 2017 and 2021. There, she played a pivotal role in launching the small and medium-sized business payments product, taking it from concept to a fully operational solution adopted by merchants nationwide.
In her mid-career, Ms. Tran was Chief Product Officer at Xpertsavers and Senior Product Manager at Amazon. From 2006 to 2012, she was principal at Brysam Global Partners. During this period, she collaborated directly with the Firms Partners to invest in credit and banking entities in emerging markets, which culciminated in a successful company exit via merger with a publicly listed firm, a milestone she regards as one of her most notable achievements.
Ms. Tran's career foundation was built at Citi, where she held several roles over six years. As the Director of Strategy for global transaction services from 2004 to 2006, she developed initiatives that advanced the bank's global reach. She started in her as a management associate followed by projects in microfinance, community relationships, and small business lending.
Academically, Ms. Tran's background includes a Master of Business Administration in finance from Columbia Business School in New York City in 2006 and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University in Cambridge in 2000. Since her education, she has maintained an active membership in the Harvard Alumni Network, maintaining strong ties with fellow graduates and industry leaders.
Raised as a refugee by a single mother with limited resources, Ms. Tran developed an early commitment to giving back. While studying at Harvard, she was drawn to economic development, later recognizing that expanding access to capital offered a more direct path to change. Her career in private equity and financial services has been guided less by profit than by the opportunity to transform industries and uplift communities. Even after achieving success at Goldman Sachs, she pivoted toward roles more closely aligned with her mission to create lasting impact, finding success and fulfillment in other financial services and aiding underserved populations.
Reflecting on her career, Ms. Tran credits her success to relentless hard work, timely opportunities and influential mentors, particularly during her time at Brysam Global Partners and Citigroup, where executives sponsored her business school education and nurtured her professional growth. In her personal life, Ms. Tran enjoys fishing, playing pickleball, golfing and working out. She also serves as an advisor for White Oak Global Advisors. In the upcoming years, she is dedicated to scaling Liberis into a leading global embedded finance company with the goal of expanding its reach from one million to over five million small and medium-sized business customers, helping transform and empower their growth. She also envisions dedicating the final chapter of her career to an impact-driven or nonprofit venture that continues to create positive change beyond the realm of finance.
