Mr. Gouvea has established a distinguished career in automation and controls engineering, marked by more than 25 years of expertise and a series of significant milestones across multiple sectors. Since 2022, he has served as staff automation and controls engineer at Johnson & Johnson Vision, Johnson & Johnson, where he oversees production lines and seeks opportunities to automate processes. His focus on enhancing reliability and efficiency through automation controls, robotics and vision systems, including motion control, has positioned him as an expert in the field.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Gouvea was senior process control engineer at ADMA Biologics Inc. from 2021 to 2022. In this capacity, he contributed to the optimization of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, applying his deep understanding of automation to improve operational outcomes.

From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Gouvea worked with Johnson & Johnson as a senior control engineer through EASi. Initially joining as a contractor before the COVID-19 pandemic, he later returned to the company at their request after a period with another organization. During this time, he played a key role in advancing automation initiatives within the company's operations in Jacksonville, Florida.

Between 2017 and 2019, Mr. Gouvea held the position of senior industrial consulting engineer at Florida Plastics Recycling. He is most proud of his achievement during this period: establishing the first automated PET recycling plant in Florida. This pioneering facility was the state's first for PET plastics and garnered media attention for its innovative approach to recycling.

From 2016 to 2017, Mr. Gouvea served as the senior engineering manager at M&I Electric Brasil, where he managed engineering teams and projects focused on industrial automation. From 2007 to 2016, he was chief executive officer of Pro-control: Soluções Inovadoras em Sistemas e Tecnologia in Brazil. Under his leadership, the company specialized in engineering for industry with an emphasis on automation and control systems. The business experienced remarkable growth during this decade—expanding by 200 percent each year—and earned international recognition when Schneider Electric named him one of the best system integrators for Triple M (Mine, Mineral and Metals) in France in 2014.

Earlier roles include senior controls and automation engineer at IHM from 2004 to 2007; associate controls and automation engineer at Vallourec from 2002 to 2004; and trainee controls and automation engineer at IHM from 2001 to 2002. These formative positions provided Mr. Gouvea with foundational experience across diverse industries such as life sciences, biopharma, pharmaceuticals, recycling, water treatment, wastewater management, oil and gas and mining.

Mr. Gouvea's academic background includes a bachelor's degree in engineering with a concentration in control and automation from PUC Minas Belo Horizonte in Brazil, completed in 2004. His education was shaped by Brazil's surge in new manufacturing during that era, a period when curricula were being updated to reflect advances in technology for automation and controls. This academic foundation has been instrumental throughout his career as he navigated evolving technologies and industry demands.

Mr. Gouvea has further enhanced his expertise through numerous certifications from Rockwell Automation between 2021 and 2025. These include credentials such as CCN202: Kinetix 5700 troubleshooting and project interpretation; CCP154-EL Studio 5000 Logix Designer Level 4: structured text/sequential function chart programming; CCP183 EtherNet/IP configuration and troubleshooting; CCP299-Studio 5000 Logix Designer Level 1: ControlLogix fundamentals and troubleshooting; and INA201 industrial network architecture: foundation, among many others.

His professional excellence has been recognized internationally. In addition to being named one of Schneider Electric's best system integrators for Triple M (Mine, Mineral and Metals) in France in 2014, he holds an O-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary abilities, a testament to his impact on the industry. Mr. Gouvea attributes his ongoing success to resilience and a commitment to lifelong learning. He believes that staying abreast of technological advancements is essential—especially with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence—and is passionate about teaching, mentorship and fostering talent among young professionals entering the field.

Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Mr. Gouvea enjoys woodworking and engaging in do-it-yourself projects outside of his professional pursuits. He also cherishes time spent with his family, including his wife, stepson and a child on the way. Looking ahead, he is developing an innovative project aimed at transforming the agritech industry by automating farming processes autonomously—addressing critical labor challenges facing agriculture today through advanced vision systems and foundational technologies. He remains dedicated to mentoring others within the industry and is actively involved in encouraging young people to pursue careers in technology and automation.
