Dr. Beyh has established herself as a dedicated researcher and leader in the fields of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. As a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University since 2024, she has focused her expertise on analyzing data, writing papers and grants, organizing collaborative meetings within the Emory community, and conducting regular sessions to generate innovative research ideas. Her work centers on investigating phenotyping of type 2 diabetes, understanding its various sub-clusters, and developing treatment approaches aimed at preventing complications. Her commitment to advancing knowledge in her field is further demonstrated by her active involvement in researching diverse topics related to diabetes.
In addition to her current role, Dr. Beyh has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for academic journals since 2016, contributing her analytical skills and subject matter expertise to the peer review process. Her earlier career includes serving as a research assistant at the American University of Beirut from 2016 to 2019, where she supported scientific investigations and contributed to the academic environment. From 2013 to 2019, she was also an instructor at Lebanese University, where she shared her knowledge with students and helped shape future professionals in nutrition and health sciences.
Dr. Beyh's professional journey also includes working as a graduate assistant at the American University of Beirut from 2014 to 2016, supporting faculty research projects and academic programming. In 2013, she held the position of head dietitian at Bariatric Surgery Center, overseeing dietary planning and patient care. Her foundational experiences include a year as a dietetic intern at Makassed General Hospital and volunteering at The Diet Center in 2010. She began her professional path as a medical representative for Sanofi Pasteur Pharmaceuticals in Lebanon in 2009.
Throughout her career, Dr. Beyh has demonstrated exceptional expertise in research, analysis, and scientific writing. She is recognized for her ability to secure collaborative opportunities and drive impactful projects forward. Her memberships in the American Diabetes Association, the Society for Epidemiologic Research, and the American Society for Nutrition reflect her commitment to staying engaged with leading organizations in her field.
Among her most notable achievements is her pivotal role in organizing the landmark event "Global Diabetes Forum" in Copenhagen, Denmark in collaboration with the Novo Nordisk Foundation. There, she and her supervisor convened more than 50 international experts to collaborate on a significant declaration aimed at revitalizing global efforts in diabetes care, an initiative reminiscent of the influential St. Vincent Declaration from previous decades. This work resulted in a published commentary in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, with a comprehensive report forthcoming.
Dr. Beyh's scholarly contributions include publishing impactful research on diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism during her doctoral studies. She authored a chapter in the Elsevier Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition that highlights her subject matter expertise and wrote a book chapter addressing COVID-19 and comorbidities.
Educationally, Dr. Beyh's background is distinguished by rigorous training across several institutions. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in nutrition and health sciences from Emory University in Atlanta in 2024, having previously completed a Master of Science in nutrition sciences at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 2017. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics from the same institution in 2011. Her foundational education includes receiving the French Baccalaureate with a focus on life sciences from Lycée Franco Libanais Verdun in Beirut in 2008.
Additionally, Dr. Beyh holds several certifications that have enhanced her research capabilities. These include a radiation safety certification from the American University of Beirut (2017), an animal study certification from the American University of Beirut (2016), and an NIE certification from Imperial College London (2015).
Overall, Dr. Beyh's success is rooted in an ambitious nature, inquisitive mindset, and unwavering determination—qualities shaped by both personal drive and strong family support. She credits her family's emphasis on education as instrumental; inspired by her father's aspirations for advanced study, she pursued doctoral training alongside her brother to fulfill that legacy. The encouragement provided by her husband, parents, brother, and extended family — both in the United States and Lebanon — has been vital throughout her academic journey, especially during challenging periods such as preparing for her defense while balancing family responsibilities.
Dr. Beyh's entry into the profession was influenced by personal experiences with diabetes within her family and region, combined with formative academic encounters that redirected her focus toward this critical public health issue. Her dedication has been recognized through several honors, including the Livingston Fellowship from the Livingston Foundation (2022) as well as consecutive Nalini and Ravi Saligram Scholarships from the Nalini and Ravi Saligram Foundation (2021 & 2022).
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Beyh enjoys spending time outdoors through walks or hikes, exercising with quick pilates sessions, cooking, baking, listening to music, and dancing. In the upcoming years, Dr. Beyh is focused on securing funding for a K01 grant that will provide financial independence and flexibility regarding future institutional affiliations. She plans to pursue an R grant thereafter, an achievement that will enable her transition into an assistant professor role with greater stability while continuing to make significant contributions to diabetes research and public health advancement.
