Earlier in her career, Dr. Mikhail served as an emergency medicine physician at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center from 2001 to 2003. She was also faculty and emergency medicine physician at St. Michael's Hospital from 1999 to 2001, where she contributed to both clinical practice and medical education. Her initial post-residency position was as an emergency medicine physician at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center from 1998 to 1999.

Dr. Mikhail's academic background laid a strong foundation for her multifaceted career. She completed a residency in emergency medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in 1998 after earning a Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1995. Her undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Science in business and biology from the University of Southern California in 1989.
