LA MESA, CA, October 08, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Justin B. Mudekereza, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Mudekereza has established a distinguished career defined by leadership, advocacy and a commitment to social change. Since 2024, he has served as the president and chief executive officer of Rescue Democracy International, a non-governmental organization he founded and officially registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2024. In this capacity, Dr. Mudekereza oversees the board of directors, presides as president of the board and manages all departments within the organization.
Under Dr. Mudekereza's guidance, Rescue Democracy International (RDI) has developed numerous programs focused on promoting democracy, human rights and empowering individuals globally, particularly those affected by poor governance and limited access to economic opportunities. He is especially proud of the organization's efforts to help people overseas start small businesses, enabling them to become self-sufficient and prepare for their futures.
At the same time, Dr. Mudekereza is the executive director of New Neighbors Relief (NNR) from 2017 to date, an organization he also founded with his friend. He manages daily operations, represents the organization in meetings with donors, and led initiatives to support refugees and immigrants as they rebuild their lives in the United States. Dr. Mudekereza considers his work at New Neighbors Relief among his most significant achievements, having helped individuals transition from challenging circumstances to stable livelihoods, guiding them through education, employment, business creation and home ownership.
From 2016 to 2017, Dr. Mudekereza taught at San Diego State University. His experiences there, coupled with his earlier volunteer work at the Alliance for African Assistance and at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) deepened his understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and inspired him to focus on direct community support rather than academic instruction alone. Before relocating to the United States, Dr. Mudekereza spent two years teaching at Pidam University in Portland, Somalia (2014-2015), and previously taught at Namasuba College of Commerce in Kampala, Uganda, from 2013 to 2014.
In addition to his academic and humanitarian work, Dr. Mudekereza has played a prominent role in political and development leadership. From 2019 to 2023, he served as national president of the Elites Movement for Democracy & Real Change, advocating for democratic reforms and real change within African societies. From 2010 to this date, Dr. Mudekereza holds the positions of chief executive officer and director general at Aspire for African Development and Consulting-ADEC, where he contributes his expertise in project management for development initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Mudekereza held roles that highlight both entrepreneurial and nonprofit leadership. He served as the country director for FreeToBeKids DR-Congo from 2011 to 2013, assistant production manager at Fresh Cuts Ltd from 2010 to 2011 and general director of CEFEVO NGO — a nonprofit he founded and led between 2000 and 2006 to assist widows, orphans and other war victims. In addition, Dr. Mudekereza has worked as a private consultant with Aspire for African Development and Consulting Limited since 2010 and continues to freelance as a language teacher, maintaining his commitment to education and community development.
Dr. Mudekereza's professional affiliations include more than five years of service as a board member for Partnership for Hope Restoration, as well as founding CEFEVO NGO. His civic engagement extends beyond these roles, encompassing his work as the founder and board president of the Justin Mudekereza Foundation since 2006, international volunteer with United Nations Volunteers, on-call translator and interpreter at hospitals, schools and active participant in a range of local community initiatives.
Dr. Mudekereza's academic background is extensive. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Atlantic International University in 2020 after completing a master's degree in project management at the same university. He also holds a bachelor's degree from the Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Commerciales et Financières in the DRC and a diploma in Human Resources from Dove Business and Technical Institute in Kampala Uganda. Beyond his education, Dr. Mudekereza attributes his success to unwavering commitment, relentless effort and resilience, qualities that have enabled him to overcome personal adversity and achieve professional milestones.
In recognition of his impactful work across education, humanitarian initiatives and community development, Dr. Mudekereza's contributions have been honored with several awards. He received the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award from Oxford University in 2023, the Refugee Resilience Award from the Alliance for African Assistance in 2019 and the World Friendship and Development Award from NRI.
Dr. Mudekereza's journey into advocacy began after arriving in the United States in 2015 for training but being unable to return home due to safety concerns as a torture survivor from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Facing significant challenges navigating the asylum process without institutional support, and while his family remained refugees in Uganda, he volunteered with organizations assisting refugees before ultimately founding New Neighbor Relief.
A prolific author, Dr. Mudekereza has published eight books, addressing critical issues such as refugee resettlement in the United States and governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His most recent works include "Critical Minerals, Dangerous Ties: Can Trump's Deal and Democracy in the DRC Work Perfectly?," published in three editions in 2025, "The New Model of Development Aid Delivery: A Contribution to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals," released in 2025, "Understanding the Multifaceted Management Problems of Refugee Resettlement in the United States of America: The Only War that the United States Is Unlikely to Win," released in 2018, and "A Word of Warning to the World!: A Transitional Government Without Joseph Kabila Needed in the Democratic Republic of Congo to Avoid Many More Millions of Dead & Refugees," also published in 2018.
Outside his professional endeavors, Dr. Mudekereza enjoys reading books and writing about social issues and human rights. Fluent in Swahili and French with proficiency in English, he also speaks several African languages, including Luganda, Mashi, Kirundi, Tshiluba, Kikongo and Lingala, skills that enhance his effectiveness as a language teacher and cross-cultural communicator.
Looking ahead, Dr. Mudekereza continues to strive for meaningful change for individuals facing adversity worldwide. Through Rescue Democracy International, he aims to expand his efforts beyond the United States and Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, promoting accountable governance, empowering communities to participate in decision-making, and fostering lasting, tangible change in regions facing systemic challenges. Dr. Mudekereza encourages those who are interested to reach out, welcoming them to connect and explore how they can take part in ongoing initiatives.
