Recruited from Cummins Inc. to Aptiv, Mr. Ghike began as an entry-level engineer and progressed to become a digital product manager for battery electric and hydrogen products until 2022. During his tenure, he became invested in exploring autonomous trucks, securing funding from the U.S. Department of Energy for a groundbreaking autonomous initiative that marked a pivotal moment in his career as he demonstrated proficiency in technical leadership, business strategy, project finance and high-level decision-making.
Mr. Ghike's earlier experience included an embedded software engineering internship at LG Chem Power Inc. in 2014, where he worked within the battery division on critical projects related to energy storage technologies. His foundational experience began as a controls engineer for the modeling and controls team within the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Enterprise at Michigan Technological University from 2013 to 2014. There, he mentored undergraduate students in building hybrid electric multi-terrain vehicles and contributed to research on super-efficient engines through his involvement with the Energy Mechatronics Laboratory. Mr. Ghike launched his professional journey a few years prior, in 2011, as an assistant system engineer at Tata Consultancy Services.
Mr. Ghike's academic background is marked by a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and tele-communication engineering from Nagpur University in India in 2011, followed by a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 2021. His educational pursuits have been complemented by certifications, including completion of the systems engineering certificate program at the University of Detroit Mercy and a self-driving car engineer certification from Udacity.
In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Ghike has been a member of several professional organizations, including SAE International. He has also participated with the modeling and controls team of the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Enterprise and served as a short-term scholar at the Energy Mechatronics Laboratory at Michigan Technological University. In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Ghike has been actively involved in civic initiatives, including charity work during his tenure at Cummins, volunteering at local food banks and clothing charities, supporting STEM activities in schools and mentoring FIRST Robotics teams.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ghike has achieved significant milestones, including holding patents for predicting battery state of health and system optimization for autonomous terminal tractor operation. Mr. Ghike's contributions extend to research and development projects, including the integration of battery modules with motor controllers using dSpace, battery control strategies for A123 battery pack systems using dSPACE Microautobox. He is also a two-time recipient of the Globee Award, runner-up in the Indiana ACG Cup Finance Competition hosted by ACG Indiana, and a Cummins System Engineering Achievement Award recipient.
Mr. Ghike attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife, who has been his most significant source of motivation, as well as to the lifelong learning philosophy instilled by his grandmother and parents. His professional journey was shaped by an early aspiration to enter the automotive industry despite financial constraints that initially prevented him from traveling to the U.S. After working for two years in India to save for his education abroad, he enrolled at Michigan Technological University, where he focused on automotive applications within electrical engineering.
