Currently, Ms. Wauson serves as the managing editor at the American College of Emergency Physicians, a role she has held since 2020. In this capacity, she oversees editorial operations and collaborates with medical professionals to ensure the publication of high-quality research that supports advancements in emergency medicine. Her leadership is characterized by a compassionate approach to working with physicians, recognizing the unique challenges they face and striving to facilitate their work through effective communication and support.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Wauson was the managing editor at Kaufman Wills Fusting & Company, now known as KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd., from 2015 to 2020. During her tenure, she managed editorial projects for a diverse portfolio of clients, further honing her expertise in medical publishing and association management.

For the preceding seven years, Ms. Wauson contributed significantly as an editorial associate for the Annals of Emergency Medicine at the American College of Emergency Physicians. She played a pivotal role in coordinating with approximately 50 to 60 editors, streamlining workflows and ensuring the timely publication of critical research. She was also instrumental in launching the journal's social media presence during a period when digital engagement was still emerging in academic publishing.

During her mid-career, Ms. Wauson contributed as an editorial assistant and publications coordinator for the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis from 2002 to 2007. In this international role, she managed the United States office and supported physicians and researchers specializing in thrombosis and hemostasis. Her introduction to medical publishing began at eMedicine in Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked on copy editing and production tasks following her graduation from college.

Educationally, Ms. Wauson's background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in biology from Creighton University in 1997. Beyond formal academics, she has continued to hone her expertise with professional membership in the American Society of Association Executives beginning in 2025. Her contributions in the field have since been recognized with several honors, including the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Service Award in 2025, as well as various work-related and collegiate awards.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Wauson is deeply engaged in civic activities. She has served as multicultural board chairperson for the National Parent Teacher Association since 2011 and previously held the position of board chairperson for Art Reflections within the same organization. Additionally, she participated in the Heard Photography Club at the Heard Museum Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary from 2009 to 2012. Her philanthropic efforts include supporting Meals from the Heartland and the Alzheimer's Association as a volunteer and donor.

Her personal life is centered around her family and enriched by her interest in yoga, hiking and painting. Inspired by her daughter's experiences and challenges, Ms. Wauson remains passionate about improving pediatric emergency medicine care. She is dedicated to facilitating educational initiatives alongside professional organizations and enhancing the impact of research within emergency medicine.
