PHOENIX, AZ, October 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joe Marrino has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Marrino is a distinguished leader in program management and currently serves as Senior Director of the Program Management Office (PMO) at Goods & Services. Since 2018, he has led high-impact, strategically critical programs for clients such as Apple and Becton Dickinson (BD), while also partnering with executive leadership to mature and align the organization's internal PMO. In this role, he oversees both internal and client-facing projects, leads the PMO team, and advances operational processes. He places strong emphasis on building robust training programs that address both the technical and behavioral dimensions of program management. Beyond his formal responsibilities, Mr. Marrino actively mentors emerging project managers, helping them transition into senior roles by instilling critical skills such as strategic thinking, influence without authority, and effective communication.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Marrino served as a consultant in project management at PM Pacific Consulting Group from 2017 to 2018. For the preceding seven years, he served as the Director of the Program Management Office at CNA National, where he worked on transformational programs for clients such as CarMax and Harley-Davidson, transforming operational inefficiencies into streamlined processes over a multi-year period. He successfully built a high-performing program management office. His efforts significantly reduced expenses and aligned projects with the organization's strategic direction.
Mr. Marrino's early and mid-career included numerous roles in project management and analysis, encompassing processes, financials, systems, and more, at companies such as the Bank of America Corporation, Haemonetics Corporation, CooperVision, and CSSA Insurance Group (AAA). His foundational experiences were as a project manager and analyst at Charles Schwab and Merrill Lynch from 1995 to 1999. In his first project, for Schwab, Mr. Marrino partnered with a systems technician to lead the redesign and implementation of the company's front-line customer contact interface. Through this effort, they successfully launched a unified customer service portal that improved efficiency by reducing the number of steps necessary to service a customer. This reduced call times by 18% and led to a measurable increase in customer satisfaction, resulting in the adoption of the improvement site-wide.
Of all his roles, Mr. Marrino is most proud of his work at Becton Dickinson (BD), where he established a highly effective project management framework, which he calls a mini-PMO, that delivered over $1 million (12.5%) in additional cost savings beyond the Engineering Cost Reduction target for two consecutive years during his tenure. This marked a sharp turnaround from prior years of budget underperformance, earning formal recognition from executive management. The process improvements have since been adopted at two other international BD locations targeting similar financial results.
Mr. Marrino was offered this opportunity after initially being brought in to rescue a failing European medical infusion-pump upgrade program. He led a complex, multi-year turnaround marked by high-stakes negotiations and critical risk-based decisions, ultimately meeting customer expectations, preserving long-term contractual relationships, revitalizing the product line, earning formal recognition from executive leadership for his performance under pressure.
Most recently, Mr. Marrino accepted an invitation to serve as a Board Member for DeepXL, a company pioneering advanced AI technologies to transform digital integrity and trust in the finance and insurance sectors.
Educationally, Mr. Marrino's background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance from Arizona State University, where he was named to the Dean's List. Complementing his classroom work, he holds several certifications that have furthered his expertise, including a master's certificate in project management from The George Washington University, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LBBP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Marrino has repeatedly volunteered with civic organizations such as Toys for Orphans and Andre House's food kitchen, as well as participating in cleanup efforts at the Grand Canyon National Park and helping build a home with Habitat For Humanity. As a business mentor for developing project managers since 2023, he continues to share his knowledge of the discipline and enthusiasm for delivering high-quality work with aspiring professionals.
In his personal time, Mr. Marrino is currently working on a passion project that involves developing high-reliability, risk-averse business applications utilizing artificial intelligence in project management. He also enjoys staying fit through exercise, and humbling himself at golf, an ever-present reminder that excellence requires dedication and practice. Reflecting on his career, he attributes much of his success to his upbringing in a very disciplined environment that instilled in him a strong work ethic and an appreciation for quality - doing things "the right way," the first time. This foundation has driven him to excel in his career and contribute meaningfully to the field of project management.
Looking ahead, Mr. Marrino is dedicated to developing a program that empowers junior and intermediate project managers by closing critical skill gaps and preparing them for effective leadership. He actively supports aspiring PMs in their learning journey, recognizing that many leave the profession prematurely after early setbacks, often mistaking challenges for a lack of fit. Project management is a complex discipline that demands a combination of proper education, dedication, and hands-on experience in varying environments to grasp the breadth and impact the role can have on an organization. It also offers a unique lens into how businesses operate from the inside out. While it can be intimidating and occasionally discouraging, it can also be extremely rewarding for those who develop the confidence and capability to lead effectively. Those who persist and build the right capabilities become highly valued contributors, indispensable to high-performing organizations and strong leadership teams.
