NEW YORK, NY, October 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laura B. Yorke has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Yorke has established herself as a leading figure in the publishing industry, with a career spanning more than three decades and marked by editorial excellence, literary advocacy and a commitment to impactful storytelling. Her professional journey reflects a deep passion for literature and an unwavering dedication to elevating the written word.

Since 2021, Ms. Yorke has served as founder, literary agent and executive editor of Laura Yorke Literary Services. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of client representation, including contract negotiations, publicity coordination, marketing strategies and distribution oversight. Her daily responsibilities involve extensive communication with publishers and authors, as well as carefully reviewing new submissions to determine their potential for representation. She also provides editorial services for both her clients' projects and freelance assignments, ensuring that every manuscript is refined to meet the highest industry standards. Ms. Yorke's editorial acumen distinguishes her in the field; she is recognized as one of the top editors in the business, known for her ability to position projects competitively in an evolving marketplace where publishers demand near-perfect submissions.

Before founding her own agency, Ms. Yorke worked as a literary agent at the Carol Mann Agency for nearly two decades, starting around 2004 or 2005. During this period, she transitioned from her earlier roles within major publishing houses to focus on literary services, leveraging her editorial expertise to guide authors through the complexities of publication. Her approach remains notably editorially minded; she prioritizes shaping manuscripts into their best possible form before presenting them to publishers, a skill that has become increasingly vital as in-house editing resources have diminished across the industry.

From 2004 to 2007, Ms. Yorke contributed as an editorial consultant at Reader's Digest. In this role, she provided strategic guidance on content development and manuscript evaluation, further honing her ability to identify compelling narratives and support authors in achieving commercial and critical success.

Her earlier career was defined by influential positions at some of the nation's most prestigious publishing houses. As executive editor and publisher of Golen Books Adult Trade Division from 1994 to 1995, Ms. Yorke oversaw the acquisition and development of adult trade titles, guiding projects from concept to publication. She also held the role of editor- at- large at Regan Books/HarperCollins from 1993 to 1994, where she worked closely with high-profile authors and managed significant editorial projects.

From 1991 to 1994, Ms. Yorke served as senior editor at G.P. Putnam's Sons, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the publisher's adult trade list and collaborating with bestselling writers. Her tenure as senior editor at Simon & Schuster, from 1985 to 1992, marked the beginning of her distinguished career; there, she developed relationships with prominent authors and contributed to works that achieved both commercial success and cultural impact.

Throughout her career, Ms. Yorke has collaborated with renowned figures such as Jodi Picoult, Steven Covey, Maria Shriver, Mary Tyler Moore, Marilou Henner, Sylvia Earle, Barry Paris, Carol Felsenthal, Tracy Thompson, Daniel Coyle, Lionel Tiger, Maxine Chernoff and Nelson George. She has also worked with Henry S. Lodge, M.D., and Chris Crowley on the "Younger Next Year" series. This collection has sold millions of copies in the United States and been translated into numerous languages, as well as George Vaillant, M.D., Janice Macleod, and Erin Brockovich.

Among her proudest achievements is her work on Sylvia Earle's "Sea Change," a seminal book that emphasizes ocean conservation and remains highly relevant today. Additionally, Ms. Yorke represented her late partner, Dr. Harry Lodge's book "Younger Next Year," which underscores the importance of lifestyle choices in health outcomes; this series has reached readers worldwide in approximately 40 languages.

Her academic foundation was laid at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. Ms. Yorke credits her success to her intelligence and direct communication style, qualities that have enabled her to navigate complex negotiations transparently while maintaining empathy for authors' creative visions.

Beyond publishing, Ms. Yorke has demonstrated civic engagement through her support of an endowment campaign for Columbia University's medical school. She played a key role in raising substantial funds for innovative programs, including palliative care initiatives. These efforts culminated in the establishment of a longevity center named after her late partner.

Born in New York City, Ms. Yorke is also devoted to her family life as the mother of two sons: Richard Elliott Snyder Jr., whose debut novel is currently under submission with another agent representing him, and Coleman Lawson Yorke, who recently began medical school, inspired by his stepfather's legacy.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Ms. Yorke enjoys hiking, skiing, exploring nature, attending museums, engaging with the arts and reflecting on her years as a competitive equestrian, where she consistently ranked among the top twenty nationally in her division.

Looking ahead, Ms. Yorke remains committed to supporting authors in producing meaningful work that enriches public discourse while continuing to nurture her children's growth and achievements with pride and dedication.
