From 2008 to 2013, Dr. Frites served as both a research assistant and teaching assistant at Duquesne University. These formative years were marked by significant contributions to research initiatives and the development of pedagogical skills that would later define his approach as an educator.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Frites was a research associate at the University of Pittsburgh from 2007 to 2008, where he participated in collaborative scientific investigations. He began his professional journey as a process engineer with Asmidal Group from 2000 to 2003, applying his technical training in chemical engineering within an industrial context.

Throughout his career, Dr. Frites has been recognized for his scholarly achievements with several awards, including the National Science Foundation Travel Award Grant for the Green Chemistry Workshop through the American Chemical Society and a travel grant for the Electrochemical Society Conference in Florida. He maintains active memberships in the Electrochemical Society and the American Chemical Society, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the broader scientific community.

Dr. Frites' academic background is foundational to his professional accomplishments. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Duquesne University in 2013—a milestone he regards as his most significant achievement, fulfilling a lifelong aspiration despite balancing family responsibilities. He also holds a Master of Science earned in Algeria and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Annaba University.
