BROOKER, FL, October 16, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rev. Paul A. Mott has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Rev. Mott's professional journey of more than 40 years is marked by a steadfast commitment to service, accountability and faith. He began his career with military service in the United States Air Force from 1982 to 1986, where he served as an aircraft mechanic and was elected squadron president. During his tenure, he identified a pattern of disciplinary issues among servicemen and advocated for the creation of a recreational space within the barracks. Playing a pivotal role in converting a large room into a recreation area and connecting it to a movie room, he successfully expanded camaraderie and provided positive outlets for his fellow airmen.
Following his honorable service, Rev. Mott transitioned to law enforcement with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in 1989. He initially worked in corrections for eight months before advancing to the role of deputy sheriff, a position he held until 1996. As a deputy sheriff, he distinguished himself by securing one of the most challenging patrol areas — an assignment previously requiring up to three officers due to its high call volume. Competing against more experienced colleagues, he earned this post and, in just over two years, transformed it from an area plagued by constant incidents to one where nights often passed with minimal disturbances. His reputation for accountability became so pronounced that parents would warn their children to straighten up or he would be called, and even the most hardened offenders recognized his name.
Determined to break the cycle of repeat offenses in Jacksonville, Rev. Mott sought guidance from a state's attorney on building airtight cases and learned advanced interrogation techniques from homicide detectives. By adapting these methods, he developed his own highly effective approach to obtaining confessions; this resulted in approximately 80% of his arrests yielding written confessions and significantly reduced recidivism among those he apprehended. Among his notable achievements was assisting in the capture of Arvis Sexton aka Mike Fetters, an individual later featured on "America's Most Wanted."
Alongside his law enforcement career, Rev. Mott answered a higher calling as an ordained minister beginning in 1997. He has served local churches with unwavering dedication, considering ministry not only his profession but also his life's purpose — a calling he continues to fulfill even in retirement through online outreach, giving spiritual guidance and encouragement. Due to limited compensation from church roles, he supplemented his income by teaching part-time at both elementary and high school levels in Bradford County while maintaining his ministerial responsibilities.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Rev. Mott authored "Master Theologian: Building a Bridge to Truth: Volume 1 Divorce," which focuses on the complexities of divorce from a theological perspective, in 2010. Although he withdrew the book due to limited exposure, he plans to revise and expand it into a two-part series for greater reach and impact on those in need of guidance.
Rev. Mott's academic background includes earning a bachelor's degree in theology and church music, taking education classes in preparation for teaching, from Baptist University of Florida — where he graduated with honors in 2003 — as well as completed coursework at the police academy. Throughout his life, he has attributed every success and survival to divine intervention. He recalls several life-threatening incidents, including falling off a jet during his military service, surviving an armed confrontation as a deputy sheriff when a firearm misfired at point-blank range and enduring a catastrophic car accident that left him temporarily paralyzed and blind — each of which he believes were moments where God intervened directly on his behalf.
In honor of his steadfast commitment to service and maintaining community safety, Rev. Mott has been recognized with duel rookie commendations from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office as well as other Commendations and received an award for academic excellence from Brown Street Press in 2002.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Rev. Mott remains dedicated to consistent personal growth and well-being. A proud father of two adult children, he enjoys outdoor activities such as riding motorcycles and visiting the beach. Currently residing on his grandparents' farm, he also tends grapevines and pecan trees there.
Looking toward the future, Rev. Mott is eager to return to writing with plans for new works addressing critical topics such as "The Unpardonable Sin," comprehensive resources for ministers and marriage counseling guidance — areas he believes are urgently needed within faith communities yet remain underserved. His legacy is defined by resilience, integrity and an unwavering devotion to serving others through both law enforcement and ministry — qualities that continue to inspire those within his community and beyond.
