In 2005, Mrs. Arndt temporarily assumed the role of caseworker for Tompkins County while covering for a colleague recovering from surgery. During this assignment, she joined the Ithaca drug court treatment team under Judge Rowley's direction, assisting families affected by substance abuse through regular meetings in the judge's chambers. Notably, Mrs. Arndt demonstrated exceptional initiative by helping a non-English-speaking individual complete an international transfer to his family, learning enough of his language to communicate effectively when others could not assist.

Earlier in her career, Mrs. Arndt excelled in a series of overlapping roles. She was an instructor with Joint Education and Training from 1999 to 2005, where she developed and delivered educational content designed to enhance professional skills among adult learners. From 1999 to 2000, she was the acting diversity coordinator for the City of Elmira, and in 2000, she was named the organizational development coordinator for Tompkins County. In this capacity, she played a pivotal role during the events of September 11, when she was asked to meet with the head of the county's Board of Representatives. Despite widespread uncertainty about potential threats to government sites, Mrs. Arndt remained on-site to provide direct advice, a moment she considers her most significant professional achievement.

A passion for academic excellence prompted Mrs. Arndt to earn an associate degree from Tompkins Cortland Community College in 1996 and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management from Elmira College in 1997, where she was proud to be selected as the student commencement speaker. Additionally, Mrs. Arndt completed a Master of Business Administration from Empire State University in 2023, and she humbly accepted both the Student Excellence Award from that institution and the Chancellor's Award for Excellence from the State University of New York system.
