STAMFORD, CT, October 23, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jerry Kelly has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Earning recognition for his extensive expertise and contributions to the art of fine printing, Mr. Kelly has led a distinguished career of over four decades in the fields of book design, calligraphy and letterpress printing. As a partner at Nonpareil Type since 2006, he has been involved in advancing the craft of type design and book production, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in typographic innovation and quality.

Since 1977, Mr. Kelly has also served as a partner at Kelly-Winterton Press, where he has been pivotal in producing finely crafted books using traditional letterpress techniques and hand-setting metal type for major clients such as The Morgan Library, The Grolier Club Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, James L. Weil and The Whitney Museum of American Art. His commitment to the highest standards of craftsmanship is evident in the company's output, which is widely regarded among collectors and bibliophiles.

Additionally, Mr. Kelly is the owner of Jerry Kelly, LLC, through which he continues to offer his expertise in book design, exhibition catalogues and other production services in an independent venture. Among his most notable achievements is his selection as the designer for the acclaimed 2023 book "Bob Dylan: Mixing Up the Medicine," published by Callaway Arts & Entertainment. This 650-page volume features hundreds of illustrated photographs — 400 of which were previously unseen — and is regarded as one of the most important books on the famed musician due to its visual impact and comprehensive scope. He regards this project as both a career highlight and an honor.

From 1991 to 1998, Mr. Kelly held the position of vice president at Stinehour Press, one of the premier art book printers in the United States. In addition to handling customer correspondence, bid presentations and estimate preparation, he oversaw significant aspects of book design, layout and production, further honing his skills and deepening his understanding of the complexities involved in high-quality printing. His clients during this time included Columbia University, The Morgan Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and H.P. Kraus Rare Books.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kelly was a designer at The Press of A. Colish in Mount Vernon, New York, from 1981 to 1991. As an account executive and the director of typography, he was responsible for much of the company's printing production and book design, handling both letterpress work and overall project management. His leadership and design experience at Colish provided a strong foundation for his later achievements in the field.

Outside of his publishing roles, Mr. Kelly has shared his knowledge and passion with future generations of calligraphers through multiple teaching positions over the years. He taught typography courses at Pratt Institute from 1997 to 2006 and has engaged in sessions and guest lectures on design and calligraphy at Stanford University, Scripps College and Camberwell College in London.

Mr. Kelly began his professional journey after pursuing higher education, during which he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queens College in 1977. Initially interested in painting and drawing, he discovered a passion for calligraphy during his studies due to the school's focus on fine arts programs. This interest led him to spend a year working in advertising lettering following graduation, after which he worked as a professional calligrapher for three years at the Malcolm & Hayes design studio in Manhattan. His growing fascination with book design — sparked by his exposure to the renowned calligrapher Hermann Zapf's work — ultimately guided him toward a career that combined his artistic talents with technical mastery.

A significant influence on Mr. Kelly's development was his decade-long study under Mr. Zapf through summer programs at Rochester Institute of Technology from 1979 to 1989. He credits this mentorship as foundational to his success and considers their collaborations on various projects as major milestones in his career.

Mr. Kelly's expertise is further reflected in his active membership with several prominent industry organizations, including the American Printing History Association, The Typophiles, Inc., The Grolier Club, Society of Scribes and Bund Deutscher Buchkünstler as a corresponding member. He is also an honorary member of The Double Crown Club, a London-based society that brings together prominent printers, illustrators and book designers.

An accomplished author himself, Mr. Kelly has also written several books on calligraphy, curated numerous exhibitions dedicated to the art form and lectured internationally. His accomplishments have seen him recognized with prestigious honors such as the Frederic W. Goudy Award for Excellence in Typography from Rochester Institute of Technology and inclusion over thirty times among AIGA's (American Institute of Graphic Arts) 50 Best Designed Books of the Year. He is co-author of The Noblest Roman: The Centaur Type of Bruce Rogers, winner of the Bibliographical Society of America's award for best book of the year on a typographic subject.

Having reached many significant milestones throughout his journey, Mr. Kelly remains dedicated to advancing the art of fine printing and book design. Looking toward the future, he aims to expand his work at Kelly-Winterton Press by producing more books utilizing handmade papers and handset type. Continuing his efforts to educate others within the publishing realm as well, he is currently working on a forthcoming book about German fine printing that is scheduled for release in 2029.
