Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Mauney has established a distinguished career in the renewable energy sector, marked by visionary leadership and a commitment to advancing sustainable solutions. Since 2008, he has served as the principal founder and chief executive officer of The Hunter Group LLC a family of Renewable Energy Companies. In this capacity, he has been instrumental in consulting for a diverse array of public and private clients, addressing complex market issues and analyzing developments from both regulatory and legislative perspectives. His expertise extends from this industry examining voluntary and regulatory renewable natural gas approaches within the industry, often likened to navigating the "wild west" of the market. Throughout the industry, he is recognized for his ability to answer questions from a broad spectrum of stakeholders and for his hands-on approach in managing facility design, build, development, contracts and regulatory matters. He also makes a point of seeing issues from all angles and seeking to understand every problem the industry faces.

Under Mr. Mauney's leadership, The Hunter Group initially served a single major client, overseeing the development of a facility that has since become the third-largest renewable natural gas production site in the United States and the largest in Louisiana. This project, widely recognized for its continual growth and numerous redevelopments, stands as a testament to his strategic vision and operational excellence. His work on a similar landfill gas to energy initiative earned him the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Landfill Methane Outreach Program award for Project of the Year in 2010, a distinction that remains one of his most notable achievements.

In addition to his role at The Hunter Group, Mr. Mauney has served as president of RNGA Energy Group LLC since 2015. From 2011 to 2016, he also held the position of development director for a private equity firm, where he oversaw the development of approximately $100 million in renewable energy projects while concurrently managing The Hunter Group. His career began in the late 1990s with an engineering firm in Alabama, focusing on waste-to-energy initiatives. In 2000, he relocated to Louisiana to concentrate on gas-to-energy projects utilizing renewable sources, such as landfill gas and biogas. Over the years, he has contributed to several companies, building award-winning projects across the United States and earning a reputation as an expert in the development and qualification of renewable energy through production design, construction, marketing, sales and regulatory compliance.

His academic foundation was laid at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and business management in 1987. Additionally, his professional affiliations reflect his standing in the industry as an active member of the RNG Coalition, the American Biogas Council and the Solid Waste Association of North America.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Mauney attributes much of his success to his ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of operation, from those turning wrenches and operating landfills to engineers managing plants and gas pipelines. His skill in translating technical challenges into actionable insights for financial professionals has enabled him to bridge gaps between operational realities and investment strategies.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Mauney has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and thought leadership. He has served as a consultant to the Landfill Methane Outreach Program under the United States Environmental Protection Agency and is a contributor to the numerous agencies as a guest speaker and leadership member. His expertise has been recognized through invitations to speak at prominent industry events, including serving as expert testimony before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and keynote speaker before the US EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program in 2010.

Mr. Mauney's personal life is deeply rooted in a legacy of family entrepreneurship and industry leadership. As David Hunter Mauney IV, he represents the fourth generation of his family involved in the textile industry in North Carolina since the mid-1800s. Five generations of his family have grown up in this tradition, with numerous mills and business ventures owned by his great-grandfather. Bringing family members into the management of companies under the Hunter Group umbrella has been particularly meaningful for him. His son David H. Mauney V currently acts as VP of Operations for the RNGA Energy Group.
