Directly responsible for managing greater than a billion-dollar strategic SGA spend to power global transformation and integration across global geography, including monthly reporting, visibility, routines, initiatives to drive efficiencies, leading to tens of millions of savings consistently over three years. Moreover, he is responsible for the financial reporting, planning and analysis across five global zones (North America, EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and E-Commerce) and directly advising the Global CFO and Executive Leadership Team and Senior Stakeholders around the world.
Before joining Hunter Douglas, Mr. Abdo was a Senior Manager at The Siegfried Group from 2022 to 2023, providing CFO advisory, Interim/Fractional CFO support to companies undergoing turnarounds, transformations, integrations, IPO readiness, M&A and restructurings. During his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing complex client engagements and transformations for pre-IPO, PE and Public companies undergoing M&A and exit strategies. He guided companies through finance transformations, ERP implementations, and operating model redesigns, solidifying his reputation as a trusted advisor in the Office of the CFO. His contributions were recognized with several accolades, including the Siegfried Production Award in 2018, the Outstanding Professional Award in 2018, 2022, and 2023 (top performer of over 1,200+ professional resources) and the Unique Ability Mastery Professional (UAMP) distinction in 2022, one of the highest honors at the Siegfried Group, rewarding consistent top performance across many different client projects.
From 2016 to 2021, Mr. Abdo advanced through several leadership positions at The Siegfried Group, including Manager, Associate Manager, and Senior Associate, where he oversaw project delivery, led system implementations, and mentored junior professionals. He began his professional journey as an experienced Senior Associate in Audit and Assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2012 to 2016, developing a strong foundation in auditing, governance, and financial analysis. Notably, he spearheaded multiple large-scale ERP implementations (Oracle and SAP), Control and SEC Reporting transformations for both large PE backed, pre-IPO, and public companies, redesigned and automated consolidation and financial close processes, and introduced advanced forecasting models that positioned organizations for scalability and investor confidence. He partnered with the CFO to lead a successful transformation, integration and M&A deal of $600M consideration between a two biopharmaceutical companies in just one years' time, backed by KKR.
His early professional experiences included serving as a summer intern at Running Room in 2011 as a part of the Alberta School of Business Marketing Program where Daniel led the data driven analysis to decide which US market the Running Room would expand its first US store to. This led to the actual recommendation and expansion. Acting as Academic Events Director for the Business Students' Association from 2010 to 2011, and working as a soccer referee and coach for the Alberta Soccer Association from 2009 to 2012 under the mentorship of the UofA Women's Head Coach for a youth club amateur team, all of which demonstrated his leadership potential and community spirit at a young age.
Mr. Abdo is a CA, CPA has been a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta since 2016, underscoring his ongoing commitment to professional development. He earned a Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of Saskatchewan in 2014, securing a full-ride scholarship in what was then the only accelerated pathway to chartered professional accountant designation in Canada. He graduated with honors from the University of Alberta in 2012 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance, completing his studies with a 3.95 GPA despite early academic challenges. He was also selected as an international case competitor, representing Canada in global business competitions, further establishing his presentation, leadership, teamwork, strategy and analytical ability and credentials. Placing in the top 5 finalists at the JMUCC, John Molson Undergraduate International Case Competition.
He holds additional certifications, including Financial Statement Modeling and the Thirteen-Week Cash Flow Model (Wall Street Prep), Agile Meets Design Thinking (University of Virginia Darden School of Business), and professional designations as both a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Professional Accountant.
