WAKEFIELD, MA, October 28, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Priya Darshini Srinivasan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Srinivasan has established herself as a leading expert in heterogeneous catalysis and operando spectroscopic techniques, with a particular focus on understanding catalyst behavior under real reaction conditions and designing more efficient, sustainable chemical processes. Her career is marked by a series of progressive roles that reflect her dedication to advancing the field of chemical engineering.

Since 2022, Dr. Srinivasan has served as a research scientist at Braskem, where she leads a project dedicated to converting bio-based resources into value-added products suitable for use as fuels for airplanes, gasoline and other applications. Her responsibilities include synthesizing catalysts under highly precise conditions — akin to the meticulous process of baking — and employing them in reactors to analyze their performance. She carefully evaluates the results and refines the synthesis process based on her findings, contributing significantly to the development of sustainable fuel alternatives and advanced catalyst technologies.

Prior to joining Braskem, Dr. Srinivasan was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Minnesota from 2020 to 2022. In this capacity, she expanded her expertise in catalysis and spectroscopic analysis, furthering her research on sustainable chemical processes. Her work during this period laid the groundwork for her current leadership position and deepened her understanding of catalyst design and application.

From 2014 to 2020, Dr. Srinivasan was a graduate research assistant at the Center for Environmentally Beneficial Catalysis at the University of Kansas. During her doctoral studies, she achieved one of her most notable career milestones: co-authoring an extensive 185-page review on reactors in her third year. This publication stands out in the academic community for its depth and breadth, as most papers in the field typically range from 10 to 15 pages. Her comprehensive review required an intensive literature survey and set the stage for her to publish additional articles in reputable journals.

Collectively, these works have garnered over 300 citations within five years of Dr. Srinivasan's graduation — a testament to their impact on both academia and industry. Her research addresses critical issues such as gasoline and crude oil pricing, global warming and carbon footprint reduction, underscoring her influence on both technological advancement and environmental stewardship.

Knowing what she wanted to do with her life from a young age, Dr. Srinivasan pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum refining and petrochemicals from Anna University in Chennai, India, in 2014. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas School of Engineering in 2019.

Along with her education, Dr. Srinivasan attributes much of her success to the collaborative efforts of her team and their shared mission to address global challenges associated with oil production and consumption. She believes that advancements in catalyst design can lead to improved fuel production, reduced demand for fossil fuels and positive environmental outcomes through bio-based solutions that minimize pollution.

Dr. Srinivasan is also immensely grateful to her parents for their unwavering support and sacrifices, which have been vital in shaping both her career trajectory and that of her older sister. She considers herself fortunate for the opportunities she has received and remains motivated by the desire to fulfill her family's aspirations through meaningful scientific contributions.

Committed to continuous professional development and engagement with the broader scientific community, Dr. Srinivasan is an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Her outstanding contributions have seen her recognized with honors such as the School of Engineering Graduate Scholarship from the University of Kansas School of Engineering in 2014.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Srinivasan is deeply involved in civic activities. She is an advocate for breast and prostate cancer awareness, volunteering at events that promote early detection and support for affected individuals. She has also partnered with organizations such as Bridge Over Troubled Water and the Rose Fund, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to community service alongside her scientific work.

In her personal life, Dr. Srinivasan enjoys yoga, rock climbing and cooking as a balance to her professional commitments. Guided by the motto "100% recyclability and a carbon-free environment," she is driven by a personal mission to develop innovative catalysts that address global warming and other pressing environmental challenges. Through both her research leadership at Braskem and ongoing civic engagement, she remains devoted to making meaningful contributions toward a more sustainable future for all.
