CANONSBURG, PA, November 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Greg Odenthal has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Odenthal, a native of Pittsburgh, has established a distinguished career in engineering and technical operations within the iron, steel and cement industries. His professional journey spans more than three decades, marked by progressive leadership roles and significant technical contributions.

Since 2021, Mr. Odenthal has served as vice president of engineering and technical operations at ITC Coatings in Pittsburgh, PA. In this capacity, he has overseen critical engineering initiatives and guided technical strategy for the organization. His tenure at ITC Coatings began in 2012 when he was appointed director of engineering and technical operations, a position he held until 2021. During this period, Mr. Odenthal played a pivotal role in advancing the company's technical capabilities and operational efficiency.

Before his work at ITC Coatings, Mr. Odenthal contributed to Vesuvius USA in several capacities. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Technical Specialist in Steel Finishing, where he applied his expertise to optimize the production processes in reheat furnaces in the steel industry. Between 2007 and 2008, he served as manager of basic gunning for technical applications, focusing on refractory solutions for industrial clients in melt shops in North America. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Odenthal was product line manager for foundry monolithics, overseeing product development and market strategy for specialized materials. His earlier tenure at Vesuvius included serving as a project engineer from 2000 to 2005, during which he managed complex engineering projects and introduced innovative solutions.

Among his most notable achievements at Vesuvius was the design of an improved method for replacing the refractory of the discharge hearth at a steel mill in Indiana. Traditionally, this process required several days of downtime in the furnace. Mr. Odenthal's innovation involved a pre-made, refractory block system that allowed the old cast-in-place hearth to be removed and replaced in approximately eight hours, significantly reducing operational interruptions and enhancing productivity.

Before joining Vesuvius USA, Mr. Odenthal worked as a mechanical engineer from 1995 to 2000 at SMS Concast & Engineering where he specializing in technical spare part sales for continuous casters and rolling mills for the steel industry and was instrumental in the start-up and commissioning of several green field mini-mills. Early in his career he was employed as a project engineer with Roadway Package System from 1991 to 1995, where he gained foundational experience in project management and engineering operations. Mr. Odenthal began his career as a project engineer with United States Steel, Edgar Thompson Works, in an engineering support position assisting in preliminary plans for refurbishing portions of a major steel producing facility.

Mr. Odenthal is an active member of several industry organizations, including the Association for Iron & Steel Technology, the Forging Industry Association, the American Ceramic Society and the American Institute of Steel Construction. These affiliations demonstrate his dedication to professional growth and industry advancement.

In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Odenthal has made significant contributions to the field through his published works in respected industry journals, including The American Ceramic Society, Industrial Heating, Ceramics Industry, and World Cement. His publications have addressed key topics relevant to materials science and mechanical engineering.

Mr. Odenthal earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991. He credits much of his success to the mentorship he received throughout his career progression, which provided guidance and support as he advanced through increasingly responsible positions.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Odenthal is an accomplished guitarist and enjoys music as a personal pursuit. Looking ahead, he aims to continue contributing to the iron, steel and cement industries by assisting companies in achieving their objectives.

Mr. Odenthal's career reflects a dedication to innovation, leadership and continuous improvement within his field.
