TUCSON, AZ, November 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nathan Anderson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Earning recognition for his expertise in pain management and integrative health, Mr. Anderson has established an impactful career in acupuncture, Chinese medicine advocacy and graduate medical education. For the last three decades, he has demonstrated his commitment to advancing health care through clinical practice, academic leadership and professional collaboration.
Since 2019, Mr. Anderson has served as fellowship faculty at the University of Arizona - Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. In this capacity, he provides a Chinese medicine perspective to the center's integrative medicine fellowship and participates in monthly conferences with integrative health care providers - a role he considers among his most significant professional achievements. His contributions have greatly enhanced the center's interdisciplinary approach to patient care and education.
As the owner of Catalina Acupuncture, PLLC in Tucson since 2016, Mr. Anderson has dedicated himself to patient care alongside education. Through this venture, he provides acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicines, and manual therapies for those seeking pain management as well as serving individuals with special needs. In addition to his care responsibilities, he manages marketing, budgeting and community outreach programs to expand his reach as a health provider and coach.
Mr. Anderson has also been a faculty member at the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine since 2015, with his outstanding commitment to health education recognized in 2019 when he was honored with the Faculty of the Year award. Prior to his current venture with Catalina Acupuncture, he owned Envision Wellness LLC from 2014 to 2016, through which he provided acupuncture and herbal medicine services and honed his marketing and leadership skills.
Before returning to his native Tucson in 2013, Mr. Anderson built a robust career in Southern California. He served as president emeritus of the California State Oriental Medical Association from 2009 to 2014 and as president from 2012 to 2014, contributing to the advancement of the profession statewide. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer and licensed acupuncturist at Kinetic Acupuncture at Samra Clinic in Los Angeles, overseeing clinical operations and care for patients undergoing neck, back and musculoskeletal treatments.
In 2011, Mr. Anderson held the roles of interim clinic director, accreditation consultant and faculty at Alhambra Medical University, where he also taught graduate students about best acupuncture and herbology practices. From 2010 to 2011, he was the director of the Oriental Medical Center and faculty at Dongguk University Los Angeles, furthering his impact on acupuncture education.
Mr. Anderson began his clinical experience with positions as a licensed acupuncturist at Integrative Acupuncture & Herbs in Thousand Oaks from 2007 to 2008 and at The Humble Abode from 2004 to 2005. His foundation was established through roles as a behavioral health technician and communications coordinator at the Erikson Center for Adolescent Advancement from 1998 to 2000, a behavioral health specialist at La Frontera Psychiatric Health Facility from 1997 to 1998 and a psychiatric technician at the University of Maryland Medical Center from 1995 to 1996.
To share insights and stay at the forefront of best practices, Mr. Anderson is an active member and former board director of the Asian Medicine and Acupuncturists of Arizona. Likewise, his leadership within the California State Oriental Medical Association has been pivotal in shaping policy and advocacy throughout the field at large.
Much of Mr. Anderson's professional success stems from his academic achievements. He earned a master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, graduating summa cum laude from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2003. Seven years earlier, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The Johns Hopkins University.
Mr. Anderson's journey into acupuncture was inspired by his own experience as a college soccer goalkeeper at Johns Hopkins, during which his team were the NCAA Division III national championship runners-up in 1994. After suffering a persistent shoulder injury, he found relief through acupuncture when conventional medicine offered no solutions. This transformative experience motivated him to pursue a career in the field so he could help others in need through both treatment and education.
Reflecting on his accomplishments in health care, teaching and advocacy, Mr. Anderson credits his perseverance and determination in overcoming challenges throughout his career. He became credentialed as a United States Department of Veterans Affairs provider to assist veterans with disabilities, which has been a particularly meaningful aspect of his work. He also values the connections he has built with educational institutions in Tucson and Los Angeles — as well as the University of Arizona — which have enriched his professional network.
Beyond his professional practice, Mr. Anderson has provided pro bono services to various charitable organizations and participated in silent auctions to support community causes. He has volunteered food and medical services for the homeless population through a local church, reflecting his longstanding dedication to civic engagement and community service.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Mr. Anderson has contributed to his field through scholarship. He authored "Evidence-Based Medicine: An Opportunity for Acupuncture," which was published in the influential Oriental Medicine Journal in 2013 and has advanced the dialogue on integrative approaches in health care. His impact over the years has seen him recognized with several accolades, including Best Acupuncture Service by the Arizona Daily Star in 2019.
A dedicated family man, Mr. Anderson is a proud father one son and one daughter. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he enjoys cycling, supporting his children in their activities and attending live sporting events and music shows. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue teaching, practicing and treating pain and illness while building an online following as a health coach worldwide. He also hopes to author a book, further sharing his knowledge and experience to reach as many individuals and families in need as possible.
