GLEN ALLEN, VA, November 04, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathryn Parker has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Parker has established herself as a leading expert in trauma therapy, drawing on a career marked by dedication to client care and professional excellence. Since 2024, she has served as the owner of Brighton Up Therapy in Glen Allen, Virginia, where she manages private practice schedules, accommodates client emergencies, and collaborates with colleagues across several disciplines, including therapists, attorneys and financial professionals. In this capacity, Ms. Parker conducts six to seven client sessions daily, efficiently documents session notes between appointments and continually adjusts her client load to optimize both quality of care and workflow. Her approach is deeply influenced by her belief that therapy is a calling and an opportunity to help individuals heal and rediscover joy in their lives.
Prior to founding Brighton Up Therapy, Ms. Parker was a clinical director and licensed professional counselor in Virginia from 2022 to 2024. In addition, she expanded her expertise into collaborative law and corporate consulting, working closely with legal and financial professionals to support clients navigating complex personal and professional challenges. Her responsibilities included developing therapeutic strategies for executive-level clients at Fortune 500 companies and integrating trauma-informed practices into corporate environments.
From 2012 to 2022, Ms. Parker served as a licensed professional counselor, trauma therapist and corporate consultant at Christian Counseling Associates. During this tenure, she provided specialized trauma therapy and participated in collaborative law initiatives designed to help couples resolve disputes outside of litigation. She became part of a collaborative law group in Richmond, Virginia, working alongside attorneys, certified financial planners and mental health professionals to facilitate constructive dialogue and practical solutions for families undergoing divorce. Additionally, Ms. Parker contributed her expertise as a licensed professional counselor with the Collaborative Law Group in Richmond. Although she eventually transitioned away from this group to focus more fully on her private practice, the experience reinforced her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
Ms. Parker's academic background has been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. She earned a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University in 2012, as well as a master's degree in school counseling from the same institution that year. While at Regent University, Ms. Parker's interest in trauma was ignited through intensive training led by Dr. Benjamin Keyes of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. Over one year, she attended monthly weekend sessions focused on traumatology, a formative experience that included two and a half weeks of fieldwork in Nicaragua. Her undergraduate studies culminated in a bachelor's degree in counseling from Old Dominion University in 1990. Ms. Parker's commitment to trauma therapy is further evidenced by certifications, including a Level 1 and Level 2 trauma therapy training and advanced EMDR techniques at Divine Mercy University, traumatology training through FEMA and licensure as a professional counselor.
Throughout her career, Ms. Parker has attributed much of her success to perseverance and an unwavering sense of purpose rooted in service to others. She balances her professional responsibilities with pro bono work for clients who need the most support. Beyond clinical practice, Ms. Parker is civically engaged as co-lead of a support group through ILLUME Family Recovery, which provides education and recovery resources for families affected by substance use disorders.
Born in Newark, Ohio, Ms. Parker is the mother of two sons and one daughter. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time cycling, gardening, visiting beaches and hiking. Looking ahead, she hopes to retire while continuing to give back through ministries or similar programs that provide access to skilled clinical support for those unable to afford it.
