CENTRE HALL, PA, November 05, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Daughenbaugh has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Daughenbaugh is the supervisor, funeral director and owner of Barbara Daughenbaugh Funeral Home Inc. in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. She acquired the business and its building from her father in 2023 after working for him and gaining experience in the field. In her role, Ms. Daughenbaugh manages all aspects of the business independently, including embalming, removals, answering calls around the clock, bookkeeping, invoicing and preparing memorial folders. She does not utilize on-call services or employ full-time staff but relies on a few trusted individuals to assist as needed.
In March 2020, Ms. Daughenbaugh obtained her director's license, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey. As a funeral director in a traditionally male-dominated industry, she has navigated unique challenges, particularly in rural and Amish communities where clients initially preferred to work with her father. Over time, her compassionate approach and professionalism led many families to transfer their arrangements to her care. She is recognized for her empathy and commitment to treating every individual with dignity and respect, regardless of background or belief.
Ms. Daughenbaugh is president of the Central Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and maintains membership with the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. Prior to owning her funeral home, Ms. Daughenbaugh served as a funeral intern at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home Inc. beginning in 2019. Her earlier career included work as a licensed veterinary technician in both Pennsylvania and Idaho. She also held a full-time position in the back office at Penn State Federal Credit Union while attending mortuary school as a full-time student.
Ms. Daughenbaugh's academic background is extensive and diverse. She earned an associate degree in mortuary science from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2019, graduating cum laude. She also holds a bachelor's degree in veterinary medical technology from Wilson College, completed in 2005, as well as an associate degree in accounting, business management, small business management and entrepreneurship from Wilson College.
Ms. Daughenbaugh's path into funeral service was influenced by her family's history and encouragement from mentors, such as Mark Heintzelman. Although she did not initially intend to follow her father into the profession, having considered careers in medicine or nursing, her experiences ultimately revealed a calling to serve families during their most difficult moments. A pivotal moment came when she helped provide comfort to parents grieving the loss of a child by creating a peaceful environment for their final goodbyes.
Throughout her career, Ms. Daughenbaugh has been recognized for her leadership and service. She received the Champion Award of Mortuary Excellence in 2019 and was named among Who's Who of Women Leaders in 2001. Additional honors include graduating cum laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating with honors at Wilson College, and being salutatorian of her high school class.
Civic engagement is central to Ms. Daughenbaugh's life and work. Since 2017, she has served as vice treasurer and committee member for the Centre Hall Lions Club, where she donated a parade flag for the Lions Club. She strives to make a positive impact through local projects that involve her family. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her son volunteered to deliver meals from the food pantry. Ms. Daughenbaugh's commitment to service extends beyond professional obligations; she believes deeply in helping others experience joy through giving back to their community.
Outside of work, Ms. Daughenbaugh enjoys camping with her family at state parks that welcome dogs, hiking, exploring landmarks across different states during biennial trips, reading audiobooks and sewing. Looking ahead, Ms. Daughenbaugh remains dedicated to advancing public understanding of death care services. She seeks to educate families about pre-need arrangements and dispel misconceptions regarding coverage by Medicaid or military benefits for funerals. Through community meetings and educational sessions such as "lunch and learn," she aims to foster greater awareness about the vital roles played by professionals, including coroners, pathologists and medical examiners.
Ms. Daughenbaugh attributes much of her success to the unwavering support from family and friends, as well as guidance from God during times of self-doubt. Her strong convictions are rooted in Christian faith; however, she takes pride in serving individuals from all backgrounds, upholding compassion, empathy and professionalism as guiding principles throughout her career. Ms. Daughenbaugh's mission is to ensure that no one feels underserved due to a lack of knowledge about available options or resources within death care services while maintaining the dignity of this essential profession for future generations.
