Between 2003 and 2008, he served as president and chief executive officer of Public Solutions. In this capacity, he honed his expertise in advocacy, coalition building and reputation management, skills that would become central to his later entrepreneurial ventures.

From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Sinclair was the president of the Triangle Community Coalition in Raleigh. During his tenure, he expanded the organization's budget from $200,000 to nearly $2 million and established its brand as a leading advocate for smart growth issues in the Research Triangle Park area. He considers this one of his most significant professional achievements, having built an enduring organization from scratch despite initial skepticism from funders and limited resources. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sinclair was an executive vice president of the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association from 1998 to 2000. From 1994 to 1998, he also served as the director of government affairs for the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Association.

Mr. Sinclair began his professional journey as a planner for Greenville County, South Carolina, from 1993 to 1994 after serving as a technical planner at the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1992 to 1993. These early roles provided foundational experience in urban planning and also revealed his passion for communications and decision-making processes among political leaders. Throughout his career, Mr. Sinclair has specialized in communications, advising chief executive officers and leaders of major associations on message development, speechwriting and media preparation. Mr. Sinclair's academic background includes a Master of Science in urban and regional planning from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, earned in 1993. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in political science from Mars Hill University in 1991. In addition to his formal degrees, Mr. Sinclair completed coursework in applied generative artificial intelligence for digital transformation through MIT Professional Education in 2023.

Mr. Sinclair's civic engagement includes serving as a board member for Central Wake Charter High School since 2013 and holding positions on the board of directors for the Downtown Housing Improvement Corporation from 2013 to 2015 and as an appointed board member on the Wake County Planning Board from 2005 to 2006. He also contributed as a public member of the North Carolina State Bar, as a planning commissioner for Wake County and as a member of the advocacy committee for Habitat for Humanity in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

He also played a pivotal role when Governor Pat McCrory enlisted him to run a campaign supporting $2 billion in bonds for community colleges, parks and university system enhancements across North Carolina, efforts that have left lasting impacts on educational infrastructure statewide.
