PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 06, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy Drozdow, co-founder and principal of The Center for Applied Research Inc., was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, regional edition of Vanity Fair.
Ms. Drozdow has exemplified leadership prowess in her role as the co-founder and principal of The Center for Applied Research Inc. (CFAR). Established in 1987 as a private firm by five Wharton research staff, including Ms. Drozdow, CFAR was an outgrowth of what was then Wharton's largest and only applied research center, bringing ideas into action. With the support of the then academic dean, CFAR transitioned to private ownership with a strategy to deploy ideas that could untangle some of the most challenging issues organizations face — issues that demanded thoughtful, systemic support through the integration of the "hard" (both business and performance analysis) and "soft" (insight into leadership and group dynamics dilemmas) to organizations of all kinds. Ms. Drozdow and the CFAR team pioneered this kind of applied research. In fact, Ms. Drozdow was among the first to examine and bring support to the unique challenges facing family-owned and led businesses, the most prevalent business form in the world, where the deepest relationships can bring their best and worst to an enterprise. Today, CFAR supports organizations in Philadelphia and throughout the U.S., where the integration of both deep "hard" and "soft" ideas and talent are essential to real help.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Drozdow joined the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983, where she was a project leader in the Wharton Applied Research Center. While helping the center transition to an independent firm, she was also among a handful of academics and practitioners who founded the Family Firm Institute — now a global institution that sponsors the study of the family enterprise in service of improved practice. Notably, in 2012, the Family Firm Institute bestowed upon Ms. Drozdow its Richard Beckhard Practice Award in recognition of her contributions to the field.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Drozdow has delivered extensive lectures at universities, symposia and conferences on a broad range of topics, including governance, competition and growth, risk, succession, continuity, and leadership and organizational development. To this end, much of her research and findings have been published in prominent business publications such as CEO Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, The New York Times, the Journal of Management Consulting, Family Business Magazine, the Family Business Review and the Sloan Management Review, among others. Ms. Drozdow attributes much of her success to the invaluable support she has received from those who preceded her, as well as to her own endeavors in nurturing and fostering talent at CFAR. Looking forward, Ms. Drozdow is committed to ensuring the continued success and positive work environment of CFAR, where the firm's continuity is secure in its second and emerging third generation.
