WASHINGTON, D.C., November 07, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Spencer K. Beall, Esq., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Beall is a leader in intellectual property law, with particular expertise in brand counseling; trademark, trade dress and copyright prosecution and enforcement; transactions; and complex litigation matters. Ms. Beall practices law in the United States and United Kingdom, where she ensures comprehensive brand protection for her clients. Since 2023, she has served as an intellectual property associate at White & Case LLP, where she is responsible for managing trademark prosecution and leading trademark clearance processes (domestically and globally); counseling clients on critical brand protection matters (including but not limited to, advertising claims and best practices, copyright and trademark implications related to the use of AI); assisting clients in maintaining and protecting core brands by curating and executing sophisticated trademark and trade dress enforcement strategies; overseeing and negotiating trademark and copyright licenses and related transactions; leading actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board at the United States Patent & Trademark Office and before the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office; and serving as lead associate in litigation matters, where she guides clients and supervises junior associates through major litigation processes (including but not limited to, leading the research and drafting of briefs and motions, taking depositions, leading discovery, representing clients in court hearings, and negotiating and finalizing settlements where applicable). Ms. Beall has demonstrated exceptional skill in managing complex legal issues and cases for global clients of all sizes across a diverse array of industries. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her subject matter expertise, creative legal strategy, and leadership in various litigation matters, including several trade dress and trademark infringement cases for major brands.
From 2021 to 2023, Ms. Beall was an associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in a notable trade dress case involving Timberland's iconic boot design. The case centered on a § 1071(b) appeal after the United States Patent and Trademark Office denied registration of Timberland's design on the grounds of alleged non-distinctiveness and functionality. Timberland appealed the decision, and although it was not overturned, Ms. Beall found the experience highly rewarding to work on due to the complexity of the case and uniqueness of the trade dress at issue, which afforded the opportunity to use cutting-edge approaches to establishing consumer recognition of trademarks (a critical issue for trade dress prosecution and enforcement).
Between 2019 and 2021, Ms. Beall worked as an associate at Jones Day. Her responsibilities included supporting patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and domain dispute litigation teams on high-profile cases as a core associate; directing trademark prosecution for large clients; assisting with IP enforcement matters; and carrying out IP due diligence and advisory work in large corporate transactions. Prior to her work at Jones Day, Ms. Beall excelled as an administrative law fellow at the Electronic Privacy Information Center in 2018, where she focused on privacy law research and policymaking. That same year, Ms. Beall gained practical experience as a student clinician at the Institute for Public Representation's Communication and Technology Division, where she advised clients on the legal implications of the European General Data Protection Regulation on American business policies concerning children's privacy and data protection protocols and played a critical role in drafting a Federal Trade Commission complaint based on online violations of federal children's privacy law, which resulted in the largest federal monetary penalty for children's privacy violations at the time.
Each of Ms. Beall's key roles has been shaped by her legal training, which she developed from her studies at Georgetown Law, the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (led by Georgetown Law and the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London), and her experiences as an intern while studying law. Ms. Beall served as a legal research assistant with Women in International Security (WIIS) at their global headquarters in 2017, where she researched and wrote a white paper on the ramifications of the gender gap in the cybersecurity sector, which was published in the Journal of European and American Intelligence Studies in June 2018. In 2016, she was appointed as a legal extern at the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, where she researched and authored a white paper examining the rise of online sextortion and revenge pornography and the dangers they pose to children around the world. The publication became an integral training tool for raising awareness of online dangers to children and establishing preventative strategies in foreign nations in critical-risk areas, such as Trinidad & Tobago and Nepal. As a student at Georgetown Law, Spencer served as the Barrister's Council Managing Director of the Bellamy ADR Negotiation Competition, a member of the Women's Legal Alliance and Language Exchange Program, and as a Georgetown Law's Admissions Ambassador.
Ms. Beall also maintains active membership in distinguished professional organizations, including the ChIPs Network, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and the Law Society of England & Wales. Ms. Beall is a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars, and is a practicing solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales. Ms. Beall is also a member of Lincoln's Inn in the United Kingdom, where she is on track to cross-qualify as a barrister before the Bar of England & Wales.
A passion for academic excellence drove Ms. Beall to pursue rigorous training across multiple disciplines. She graduated summa cum laude from Sweet Briar College in 2014 with three Bachelor of Arts degrees in French, History, and Art History, and a minor in Medieval and Renaissance Studies after completing Masters-level coursework at Université Paris-Sorbonne IV from 2012 to 2013. Ms. Beall earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown Law in 2018, where she was named to the Dean's List in 2017. During her tenure at Georgetown Law she completed coursework in comparative law and policy at King's College London through the Center for Transnational Legal Studies in 2016-2017, where she earned Director's List distinction for academic excellence.
Ms. Beall's passion for intellectual property law began when she was researching and writing an art criticism textbook with her professor at Sweet Briar College, Dr. Marie-Thérèse Killiam. The book, titled "Painting With Words: Writers' Transpositions of Masterpieces into Art" was digitally published in 2013. The complexities involved with securing image licensing led Ms. Beall to more deeply explore intellectual property law and ultimately discover her enthusiasm for trademark and copyright law. Ms. Beall credits her mother as her primary inspiration throughout her life and acknowledges her as a driving force behind her achievements and dedication to excellence. She credits her grandfather for encouraging her to pursue a career in law.
A series of critical accolades further define Ms. Beall's profile, including recognition as a Salzburg Lloyd Cutler Global Seminar International Law Fellow in 2017. She also was named Sweet Briar College's Presidential Medalist in 2014 and Scholar of the Year by Virginia's Collegiate Honors Council in 2014. Additionally, Ms. Beall has been a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa since 2014. She has also been included on the District of Columbia Pro Bono Honor Roll.
Ms. Beall has contributed scholarly work to leading publications. Her work includes "Missing Figures: The Cybersecurity Gender Gap," published by the Journal of European and American Intelligence Studies in 2018, and "Lock Her Up!": How Women Have Become The Fastest-Growing Population In The American Carceral State," featured in the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law in 2018. Ms. Beall also pursues opportunities for civic engagement through her extensive pro bono work and by supporting fundraising initiatives. Throughout her career, she has provided legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, children affected by child custody disputes, and various human rights and social activism causes, among others.
Ms. Beall is committed to leveraging her skills and qualifications to provide best-in-class service to clients globally. Looking toward the future, she intends to complete her barrister qualification at Lincoln's Inn, thereby becoming qualified both as a barrister and solicitor within England & Wales. To achieve balance, Ms. Beall maintains a diverse array of interests and hobbies, including traveling, painting, cooking, needlepointing, and creating miniature historic rooms in 1:12 scale.
