TORONTO, ON, November 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jacqueline Lewis, BA, LLB, LLM, founder and managing partner of Lewis & Associates LLP, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the April/May 2025 Buffalo, New York, regional issue of Forbes magazine.

Ms. Lewis has built a sterling reputation for over 30 years as a lawyer, educator and advocate for refugees. Since founding Lewis & Associates LLP in 1991, she has been a managing partner, bringing her experience and passion to bear in representing refugees before the Federal Court of Canada and the Refugee Protection Division. Under Ms. Lewis' stewardship, Lewis & Associates has been recognized as a leading firm for immigration rights in Canada, with the company processing over 100 refugee claims per week. In addition to its primary location in Toronto, the firm has expanded to Montreal, and a United States office is under consideration for the future.

While working as a lawyer, Ms. Lewis devoted her time to educating the next generation. She provided insight as a law instructor at Carleton University for five years and at Western University for four years. Ms. Lewis has also implemented her active lifestyle into her professional life. From 2013 to 2020, she contributed as president of the Two-Wheeling Women Bike Touring Company.

In addition, Ms. Lewis is an outspoken supporter of 2SLGBTQI+ rights. In 2015, she assumed the role of president of Egale Canada, a human rights nonprofit that offers research, education and legal resources to support 2SLGBTQI+ rights and combat bias. Through this organization, Ms. Lewis spearheaded the first youth transitional and emergency housing project in Ontario. In addition to her future plans to establish an elderly assisted housing facility for 2SLGBTQI+ seniors, Ms. Lewis aims to create the first 2SLGBTQI+ legal clinic in Canada. Furthermore, she is passionate about helping women recently released from detention facilities receive transitional housing.

Beyond her career, Ms. Lewis enjoys kayaking and writing in her free time. She published her first book, "The Question of Identity," in 2013. Looking ahead, Ms. Lewis is considering the steps for handing over control of Lewis & Associates LLP. Her goal is to ensure the company lives on in a way that respects the legacy she has built. She also endeavors to create new programs to assist marginalized communities, the refugee population, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals and women seeking support.

AWARD HIGHLIGHTS
Ms. Lewis received the Torch Bearers Award in 2023. In 2020, she was honored with the Laura Legge Award from the Law Society of Ontario – an accolade given in recognition of contributions to the field of law and tireless advocacy for underprivileged populations. Additionally, she has accomplished many milestones related to kayaking and biking. Notably, she was the first woman to circumnavigate Prince Edward Island and won seven medals for kayaking from the Canadian National Masters Championships.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Ms. Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts from York University in 1985. Subsequently, she obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario) in 1989 and a Master of Laws, with a focus on administrative law, from the York University Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999. She also registered as a foreign legal consultant with the Istanbul Bar Association in 2020.
