SAVANNAH, GA, November 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Clifford King, elementary school principal, retired from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the October 2025 Atlanta, Georgia, regional issue of TIME magazine.
Across a career spanning more than 35 years, Dr. King has focused on using his skills to educate and uplift others. In 1968, he became the first and only of his 10 siblings to receive a college degree. After four years of service in the United States Air Force, Dr. King pursued a professional life in education, teaching elementary, middle and high school-level French at multiple schools.
After several decades of teaching, Dr. King accepted the role of elementary school principal with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in 2003. Though he has since retired, he reflects fondly on his years contributing to the education system as a teacher and principal. Dr. King is particularly proud of his work with behavior-disordered students. He established a process of motivating students to improve their behavior by giving them cards that clearly laid out necessary changes and offering them rewards they could earn for successfully implementing those changes. Dr. King felt great satisfaction in witnessing meaningful change in students and in the joy they expressed as they learned how to be successful.
In addition to his professional life, Dr. King actively volunteers with his local church, participating in a program where he prepares and distributes meals to those in need. He attributes his success to his perseverance and the support offered by others in his life. Having grown from the son of two sharecroppers into a respected elementary school principal, Dr. King views his journey as an illustration of how one's destination is not necessarily determined by how one begins life.
Beyond his career, Dr. King is a devoted husband, father to two and grandfather to five. He is filling his retirement years with some of his favorite hobbies: exercising, traveling the world, practicing water aerobics, and enjoying sports such as basketball, football and baseball. Having devoted his life to educating children, Dr. King is now focused on ensuring that his grandchildren receive the best possible education. Additionally, he is in the process of completing his first book, "The King Who Few People Really Know," which he hopes to publish soon.
EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. King set a strong foundation in his own education, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in French, with a minor in English, from Savannah State University (formerly known as Savannah State College) in 1968. He obtained a Master of Education from Georgia Southern University in 1977, followed by completing a joint program between Savannah State University and Armstrong State University for a second master's degree in 1979. Dr. King returned to school later in his career, earning a Doctor of Education from the Business University of Costa Rica in 2002. Though retired, he maintains his teaching license.
