LAS VEGAS, NV, November 10, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rachel L. Ivory, PhD, owner of Ivory Publishing LLC, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the October 2025 Las Vegas/Reno, Nevada, regional issue of TIME magazine.
For Dr. Ivory, what has become one of her most positive childhood memories began as a struggle. When she was sent to spend the summer with her grandmother, she was hit with the last thing a child wants to see on summer vacation: homework. Though she had only ever completed up to eighth grade, Dr. Ivory's grandmother recognized the importance of education, and thus, required her grandchildren to read and prepare book reports over the summer.
Though she initially dreaded this process, Dr. Ivory soon grew to love reading and learning in general. Now a grandmother herself, she is the author of more than 20 children's books. Her "I Want To Be" series tells stories about different jobs children might imagine pursuing, from air traffic controller to teacher to graphic designer. The series is available for purchase on Amazon.com. Alongside her extensive writing, Dr. Ivory has devoted over 35 years to a career with the U.S. Postal Service, working in a number of different capacities but primarily focusing on human resources. She also served in the U.S. Army for nearly 15 years as a senior instructor, facilitator and drill instructor.
Dr. Ivory has garnered several awards throughout her professional life. She is a three-time recipient of the Army Achievement Medal and a four-time recipient of both the Diversity Achievement Award and the Special Achievement Award from the Postal Service. Dr. Ivory was named the Employee Engagement Ambassador of the Year by the Postal Service in 2019. She was presented with two Postal Certificates of Appreciation that same year, repeating those honors in 2021 and 2024.
Inspired by the way her grandmother shaped her life, Dr. Ivory aspires to be a similar positive influence as a loving wife, mother to two and grandmother to seven. She remains passionate about teaching children and helping them recognize their potential. Dr. Ivory plans to continue writing her children's book series for the foreseeable future, with hopes of expanding into writing a wider variety of books once she retires. She is also collaborating with the owner of a travel agency to organize a cruise for female military veterans.
A PROMISE FULFILLED
Dr. Ivory made a pledge to her grandmother before her passing in 1992 that she would continue pursuing her education. With that promise in mind, she obtained a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Radford University in 2007, followed by a Master of Public Administration from Walden University in 2009. Returning to Walden University, Dr. Ivory earned a research doctorate in public policy and public administration in 2017. She is certified as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator practitioner through the Myers & Briggs Foundation and a trauma-informed yoga instructor through the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southern Nevada.
