NEW BRAUNFELS, TX, November 12, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce F. Bading has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Bading is recognized for his exceptional ability to bridge the gap between C-suite executives and information technology teams. As an Executive Leader and GRC consultant in Cybersecurity and Enterprise Risk Management, he has built a distinguished career marked by strategic insight and technical expertise. Since 2017, he has served as president of BFB Consulting, Inc., where he leads cross-functional teams, fosters collaboration between executives and IT specialists, strengthens network security, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations. His leadership has consistently delivered robust, client-focused solutions.
Before founding BFB Consulting, Mr. Bading served as Senior Cybersecurity Consultant at IBM Rochester, where he deepened his expertise in cybersecurity and risk management. His role included overseeing security frameworks and helping clients meet regulatory requirements. One notable example occurred during his tenure at IBM, when he addressed a major data breach at a global retailer. Scope consisted of 21 IBM i partitions and 100,000 users in 61 countries. Customer realized great value of partnership with IBM on major Governance, Risk Management and Compliance project.
• Initial Assessment performed in 2011 identified over 100 unique risk vectors including 15,000 administrators and services not requiring password
• ROI resulted in lower cost of compliance, audit and operational efficiency
• Customer achieved PCI compliance attestation from IBM and CoalFire QSAs
• Customer loyalty resulted in significant number of new Power 7 and Power 8 systems for AIX
Upon discovering non-compliance with payment card industry standards, he presented his findings to the board, emphasizing the brand and operational risks. He then organized and led teams to implement a comprehensive security improvement plan over 18 months. Within three months, it became evident that the breach was more severe than initially understood.
Despite the complexity of the situation, Mr. Bading effectively communicated the financial risks of misconfigurations and internal errors, estimating potential losses of up to $9 million—a figure later validated by external sources. His implementation of key security measures led to a significant reduction in problem tickets and smoother IT operations. The CEO commended Mr. Bading's client-first approach, which ultimately influenced IBM's sales strategy to prioritize customer success.
Mr. Bading also contributed to high-profile international projects. While on assignment in Asia, he identified recurring disk failures at a bank. His onsite observations revealed that inadequate air conditioning in the IT center was causing overheating. After sharing his findings with IBM teams, he concluded the issue was environmental rather than hardware-related, earning praise from IBM executives for pinpointing the root cause.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Bading held leadership roles at Industrial Infra-Red, a company specializing in industrial heating and air conditioning. As CFO and business manager, he oversaw financial and operational functions. He began his professional journey there as secretary treasurer and general manager, gaining early experience in administration and leadership.
Following high school, Mr. Bading was invited by friends' parents to help run their company. Already self-taught in business and accounting software, he quickly found success, progressing from industrial equipment management to founding his own consulting firm. His unique blend of executive acumen and cybersecurity expertise caught the attention of IBM, launching his career in enterprise risk management at the executive level.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Bading attributes his success to a strong drive, ambition, and a commitment to lifelong learning. These qualities have enabled him to overcome challenges and seize opportunities across a multidisciplinary career.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Bading enjoys astronomy, photography, hiking, and spending time in nature. He is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and values the time he shares with his family. Inspired by thought leaders such as Nvidia's CEO and Neil deGrasse Tyson, he plans to share his passion for astrophotography and science on social media, aiming to spark curiosity and appreciation for astronomy, physics, and mathematics.
"Mr. Bading is honored to be recognized by Marquis Who's Who. This acknowledgment reflects not only his journey but the incredible teams and mentors who've shaped it."
