As a child, Ms. Strode received a plastic model of "the visible woman" with organs and a baby inside, which piqued her interest in the human body and encouraged her to pursue a career in science, particularly in cancer research. She pursued advanced placement scientific courses in high school and received her Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Cook College at Rutgers University in 1981.

Ms. Strode worked at three large pharmaceutical companies, initially performing laboratory bench work with monoclonal antibodies at Hoffmann-LaRoche from 1982 to 1985 before moving to Bristol-Myers Squibb from 1985 and 1994, first as a bench scientist in cancer research, and then in regulatory affairs working on cancer drug candidates, where she successfully gained approval of an anti-cancer drug in children. The bulk of her regulatory experience was gained at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. between 1994 and 2014, where she honed her regulatory expertise with increasing roles and responsibilities, becoming an executive director, virology global regulatory area leader, and the North American regional regulatory coordinator. Ms. Strode expanded upon her professional knowledge by earning a Master of Science in regulatory affairs and quality assurance from Temple University in 2013. Thereafter, Ms. Strode expanded her regulatory expertise in the biotech industry as the vice president of regulatory affairs for Cerulean Pharma, Inc. and as senior vice president of regulatory affairs and quality assurance for Epizyme, Inc. and for Fulcrum Therapeutics. She has been part of several teams that have successfully brought a number of new medicines into the health field.

Backed by years of professional experience, Ms. Strode is an expert in her field and presently excels as the principal for Sunburst Regulatory Consulting, LLC, serving as a senior regulatory consultant and strategic advisor, primarily supporting start-up and young life science companies, as well as serving on advisory boards and advising venture capital investors.

In light of her professional achievements, Ms. Strode was honored with the President's Award from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals. While her career has been filled with standout moments, she takes the most pride in achieving her career goals at an early age to advance medicines in cancer research. She enjoys working with highly functioning teams and has remained close to many former teammates over the years.
