FLINTVILLE, TN, November 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joe Nathan Lampley has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Demonstrating more than three decades of professional dedication and service, Mr. Lampley has established a remarkable career as an attorney, rancher and real estate owner. Since 1983, he has led the Law Office of Joe N. Lampley, where he represents individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents, wills, trust and estates, medical malpractice, wrongful death claims, family law matters, and advocates for clients before the state personnel board in Alabama. His expertise in handling criminal cases that potentially lead to life imprisonment sentences and death is widely recognized, reflecting his commitment to ensuring his clients receive the highest standards of representation.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Lampley works as a rancher and real estate owner, further diversifying his professional and personal portfolio. Each of these roles have allowed him to contribute to his community's economic development while maintaining a strong connection to the land and local business interests.

Mr. Lampley served as a captain in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps of the United States Army from 1979 until January 1984.

Mr. Lampley's early military career was marked by a profound commitment to civil rights and social justice. Mr. Lampley identified a significant barrier in Madison County, Alabama, that prevented Black residents from registering to vote. Despite the restrictions placed on political activities for active-duty soldiers, Mr. Lampley and fellow government lawyer Michael Sales filed a lawsuit against the Madison County Board of Registrars as private citizens. They successfully argued before a federal judge that requiring registration at the county courthouse effectively disenfranchised Black citizens, with their legal victory contributing meaningfully to expanding voting rights in Madison County, Alabama.

Mr. Lampley's courage and legal skill were on full display when he filed a civil rights lawsuit against the Huntsville City Council, the Huntsville Board of Education,  and the Madison County Commission, in the early 1980's,  wherein he was able to convince a federal judge that each defendant was using a method of election called, At Large Election,  to discriminate against black voters.  The At-Large Election method was intended to ensure that no Blacks would be elected to the Huntsville City Council, the Huntsville Board of Education, and the Madison County Commission.   Attorney Lampley was victorious in having the At Large Election method declared illegal, and substituted in its place the District Election method.  The implementation of District Elections has resulted in Blacks being elected since 1988 to Huntsville City Council, the Huntsville Board of Education, and the Madison County Commission.

Before venturing onto his legal path, Mr. Lampley pursued higher education and earned a Juris Doctor from Southern University in 1979, following a Bachelor of Science in political science with minors in history and philosophy from Tuskegee University in 1976. He was named to the Dean's List at Tuskegee, underscoring his academic excellence and deep dedication to continuous learning.

In addition to his varied professional pursuits, Mr. Lampley is affiliated with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Kappa Alpha Psi — organizations that reflect his ongoing commitment to civil rights advocacy, community leadership, and helping those in need.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Lampley has demonstrated a deep commitment to civic engagement. He holds the title of deacon emeritus at First Missionary Baptist Church and volunteer at Lakewood Park Community Center, further exemplifying his dedication to service.

Mr. Lampley is happily married to Beverly Gurley Lampley,  and a proud father of three adult children, Jonathan and Christoper Lampley and Derrick Pearson. Mr. Lampley is a deeply devoted family man. Farming remains one of his personal interests, as it allows him to remain connected to his roots and community. Reflecting on his storied journey, he attributes much of his success to the influence of his father,  Mr. Hurrie D. Lampley, whose perseverance and wisdom — despite only having a fifth-grade education — served as an enduring benchmark for achievement throughout his life.  Mr. Lampley cherishes the love and support of his mother, Ms. Ola Mae Lampley, and of all of his siblings, Mary Virginia, Betty, Jessie D., Brewnoise, Maxine, Barbara, Willie Hurrie, Mia, Wayne and Dyjerlynn Lampley, Tyrone and Bobby Calhoun, and George Griffin.

Determined to further his impact in the future, Mr. Lampley aspires to mentor his niece, Attorney Whitney Tillman, towards becoming a highly skilled lawyer,  and is dedicated to instilling in her a passion for helping others. Mr. Lampley remains committed to assisting others whenever possible, continuing his lifelong legacy of service and advocacy through everything he does.
