LARAMIE, WY, November 18, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tathagato Roy has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Roy has established a dynamic career at the intersection of scientific research, technology commercialization and venture capital. In 2025, he began serving as a licensing manager for the University of Wyoming Research and Economic Development Division, supporting faculty and students in protecting intellectual property and connecting innovations with industry partners. In this capacity, he collaborates with scientists across diverse fields such as biotechnology, clean energy and material science, facilitating the translation of research into practical solutions. Among his proudest achievements is his contribution to a publication in Aging Cell, where he helped uncover molecular pathways related to cardiac aging.

Simultaneously, Dr. Roy is building Third World VC, an independent venture capital platform focused on overlooked scientific frontiers and underrepresented founders. His mission is to ensure that innovation is not limited by geography or background, aiming to connect researchers from regions such as Wyoming or rural India with capital and mentorship. In 2025, he also assumed the role of venture scout (VC in residence) at LvlUp Ventures, identifying emerging opportunities in science and technology startups, and he serves as a VC Scout with Humanum, an invite-only syndicate of operators, technologists and investors. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for Wiley, contributing his expertise to the peer review process for scientific publications. He is also the Lead Coordinator with the Council of Innovation Management after previously participating as a study circle member.

Previously, Dr. Roy was an associate board editor for Medwin Publishers' Virology & Immunology Journal from 2023 to 2025, during which time he evaluated submissions and contributed to editorial decisions. During his tenure as a graduate research and teaching assistant at the University of Wyoming from 2018 until 2025, he engaged in both laboratory research and instructional responsibilities, furthering his commitment to academic excellence.

As a National Institutes of Health Wyoming INBRE research fellow between 2022 and 2024 at the University of Wyoming, Dr. Roy advanced biomedical research initiatives while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. In 2023, he gained experience as a market research intern at the University of Wyoming, analyzing trends relevant to technology transfer and commercialization. His early academic journey included research experience at Visva-Bharati in India from 2011 to 2016, developing foundational skills in zoology and life sciences. To stay apprised of industry trends, he maintains active memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Society for Microbiology, the American Association of Immunologists, the IDeA Networks of Biological Research Excellence and AUTM.

Instrumental in shaping Dr. Roy's career trajectory was his educational background, which began with a bachelor's degree in zoology from Visva-Bharati in 2014. He subsequently earned a master's degree in zoology from the same institution in 2016, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in molecular and cellular life sciences from the University of Wyoming in 2025.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Roy attributes his success to perseverance, grit and resilience — qualities that have enabled him to remain focused on long-term goals despite challenges such as long hours during his doctoral studies. He credits his strong desire to help others as a guiding principle instilled by his mother's career as a nurse and his father's work as a teacher. Looking ahead, Dr. Roy remains committed to launching Third World VC with the goal of helping innovators turn their ideas into successful businesses. Drawing on his rural upbringing in Bengal, India, he is dedicated to making a difference by supporting innovation and entrepreneurship across underserved communities worldwide.
