Among his current projects, Mr. Defendorf oversaw the installation of a large video wall for a Detroit nightclub and is serving as the owner's representative for a landmark entertainment venue being developed in partnership with the University of Tennessee, a project that will anchor a new citywide entertainment district. He is also directing initiatives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and San Antonio, Texas, collaborating with industry partners to deliver complete AV and event solutions for nightclubs, hotels, and corporate environments.

Before establishing BEAM Integrated, Mr. Defendorf spent a decade as Director of Audio and Video for Live! Hospitality & Entertainment (2015–2025). In that role, he managed music programming for more than 135 venues nationwide, curated DJ libraries, oversaw recording operations, and contributed to the design and construction of high-profile entertainment complexes. His work was recognized through features in L-Acoustics and Martin Audio publications highlighting his system designs and project execution.

From 2008 to 2015, Mr. Defendorf served as Manager and Entertainment Director at PBR Baltimore, where he produced large-scale events and managed venue entertainment operations. Earlier in his career, he worked as a professional DJ and radio personality, performing at notable venues such as The Beaumont Club, Remington's and PBR, and on-air for KMAJ and KTPK 106.9.

Mr. Defendorf holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, and Business from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas (1998). His academic foundation in communications and business management has supported his success as both a creative and operational leader.

Born in Geneva, New York, and raised in Rochester until age 10 before relocating to Topeka, Kansas, Mr. Defendorf was introduced to audio technology at an early age through his father's career in radio broadcasting. By 14, he had built a home radio station; by 16, he was already working professionally in radio while attending high school.
