Mr. Espy has established a distinguished career in educational finance and administration, currently serving as treasurer and chief financial officer for Loveland City School District since 2024. In this capacity, he oversees a team of five professionals dedicated to data management, communicates with the state of Ohio on staffing and student matters, manages payroll and employee benefits, reconciles bank statements, supervises accounts payable, approves all outgoing payments and ensures accurate coding of incoming funds. His responsibilities also include leading training sessions, serving as the conference administrator for the Ohio Association of School Business Officials, and serving as Treasurer for the Ohio Education Data Systems Association Board, where he organizes an annual professional development conference attended by approximately 400 participants.

Before his current role, Mr. Espy served as treasurer and chief financial officer for the Milford Exempted Village School District from 2023 to 2024. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in advancing the district's financial operations and contributed to the success of its extracurricular programs. Notably, under his leadership, the Winter Drumline achieved world finalist status for the first time in the district's history. This milestone set a foundation for continued excellence after his departure.

From 2021 to 2023, Mr. Espy held the position of treasurer and chief financial officer at Miamisburg City School District. He was responsible for managing all aspects of district finances, including debt issuance, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, grant writing and policy oversight. His expertise in these areas has been widely recognized within the field.

Between 2019 and 2021, Mr. Espy served as treasurer and chief financial officer at Clermont Northeastern Schools. He was instrumental in streamlining fiscal processes and ensuring compliance with state regulations. Concurrently, from 2019 to 2020, he worked as coordinator of fiscal applications at Hamilton Clermont Cooperative Information Technology Center, where he facilitated the integration of financial software systems across multiple districts.

From 2018 to 2019, Mr. Espy was a financial software specialist at Hamilton Clermont Cooperative Information Technology Center. His work focused on optimizing software solutions to enhance efficiency in school business operations.

Mr. Espy began his career in education as an educator at Milford Exempted Village School District from 2010 to 2018. His teaching groups consistently ranked among the top 25 nationally, a testament to his commitment to excellence in education. He also completed an internship as chief financial officer in the treasurer's office at Milford/Lockland School Districts from 2016 to 2017. He served as an intern city auditor and treasurer for the City of Portsmouth in 2016.

From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Espy taught at Mt. Healthy City Schools before serving as percussion director at Cabell Midland High School from 2004 to 2007.

Throughout his career, Mr. Espy has demonstrated expertise in controlling financial operations for school districts, including debt issuance, payroll management, accounts payable and receivable oversight, and federal and local grant writing and policy administration.

His professional affiliations are extensive. He has been a member of the national foundation board of Sigma Tau Gamma since 2021. He serves on the board of directors for both the Ohio Education Data Systems Association and the Mid-East Performance Association. He has also been a member of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials since 2020. He has been involved with the Government Finance Officers Association and the Association of School Business Officials since that year. Additionally, he has served as a finance advisor for Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity since 2017 and as the president of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Miami University Alumni Chapter since 2016.

Mr. Espy's academic background includes ongoing coursework toward a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at Miami University. He earned a Master of Science in accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2018, a Master of Business Administration in business administration and management from Xavier University in 2014 and a Bachelor of Arts in education from Marshall University in 2007.

He holds several certifications, including Humans as Subjects IRB Basic Course from CITI Program, the municipal securities certificate (CPIM) awarded in 2021, the commercial paper certificate (CPIM) earned in 2020, the Ohio pupil advisory permit (Ohio Department of Education and Workforce) granted in 2018, the Ohio State Treasurer license from Miami University, earned in 2016, the Ohio School Treasurer License (Ohio Department of Education and Workforce) and the Ohio teaching license (Ohio Department of Education and Workforce).

Mr. Espy attributes his achievements to mentors who guided his growth and to colleagues dedicated to helping others succeed. He acknowledges the unwavering support of his family—particularly his wife, Mina—and expresses gratitude to those who have contributed to his professional journey.

His civic involvement is equally notable. Since 2024 he has served on the board of WordPlay Cincy; he is active with Loveland Elementary Parent Teacher Association since 2021; contributes as a member of the Board of Directors of ConneXus Performing Arts Association Inc., also since 2018; saton the Board of Directors for Cincinnati Wind Band from 2019 to 2025; directed percussion at Lakota East High School from 2019 to 2023; participated as class five member of School Board School during 2022 to 2023; coached with Loveland Youth Soccer Association from 2019 to 2021; and is engaged with Rotary International since 2021.

Among his accolades is the Auditor of State Award and Auditor of State Award with Distinction, recognition for excellence in public sector financial management. Mr. Espy's most significant professional accomplishment was leading extensive lobbying efforts through his professional organization during spring budget negotiations, resulting in protected funding for public education statewide. Additionally, he co-authored a cash balance white paper released by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials in 2022 that has shaped policy guidance for school districts across Ohio.

Born in Cincinnati, Mr. Espy values family life with Minna, an elementary principal, and their daughters, Emerson and Harper, who attend schools within the Loveland City School District. He finds it especially meaningful to contribute directly to their educational environment and growth.
Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Espy enjoys playing percussion instruments, supporting his children's athletic pursuits—including soccer, softball, and basketball—and following Cincinnati Reds baseball games and Xavier University Basketball.

Looking ahead, Mr. Espy intends to continue advocating for public education funding while seeking improvements to Ohio's school funding processes and formulas. He is committed to personal growth through further study, aiming to complete his doctorate while exploring additional coursework in special education or law, to deepen his understanding of administrative challenges within education systems.
