His duties include ensuring the proper operation of pumps, equipment and piping integrity, inspecting new pumping plants to enhance flow and provide gravity lift for sewers, and communicating with contractors to ensure project alignment. Mr. Metchikoff also responds to emergencies, such as spills, odor complaints, flooding, and public health incidents, while monitoring sewer lines in high-risk areas like landslide zones. His technical expertise and commitment to operational excellence are evident in his ability to manage these complex systems efficiently.

Before joining the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, Mr. Metchikoff worked as a water distribution technician for the City of Fresno, California, in 2023. During his short tenure, he was instrumental in installing new water mains to support city expansion, replacing fire hydrants and operating heavy machinery in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards. Mr. Metchikoff's work contributed significantly to the city's infrastructure development and public safety.

From 2017 to 2022, Mr. Metchikoff was employed as an operator at Phillips 66 in Arroyo Grande, California. This period marked a defining chapter in his career. He managed refinery processes from crude oil to refined products, such as jet fuel, gasoline, and diesel. He also obtained several certifications during this time period while working regular 12-hour shifts as an operator. The subsequent closure of the Phillips 66 location was a setback. However, the knowledge and experience gained during this time proved invaluable.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Metchikoff served as an emergency medical technician at Knott's Berry Farm between 2015 and 2019. He previously worked as an emergency medical technician with McCormick Ambulance Company and Emergency Ambulance Service Inc. and was a wildland firefighter with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, dating back to 2012.

Mr. Metchikoff's educational background includes an Associate of Science majoring in fire science from Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California, earned in 2012. He has pursued continuous professional development, including high-angle rope rescue and rope and confined space rescue training with CMC Rescue Inc., water distribution system operator grade II certification from the State of California State Water Resources Control Board, and emergency medical technician certification.

Civic engagement has been a consistent theme throughout Mr. Metchikoff's life. In 2023, he volunteered as a firefighter with the Farmersville Fire Department. He also served as an industrial firefighter and volunteered as an emergency department ambassador at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center.
