Her work at Work Simplr—and her earlier contributions at Pearson and McGraw-Hill, where she helped shape products serving millions—has already reached more than 4.5 million learners, with a goal of exceeding ten million worldwide.

Prior to founding Work Simplr, Ms. McPherson served as a business strategy specialist at the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center, advising entrepreneurs on growth and operational strategy. Since 2012, she has also been a fractional go-to-market and turnaround specialist with Piper Madison, supporting companies undergoing transformation and rapid scaling.

Her two-decade tenure at Pearson was marked by progressive leadership roles. From 2010 to 2020, she served as vice president of product strategy and user experience for enterprise services, driving innovation in digital education. Between 2001 and 2010, she led product and user experience efforts for student success and employability initiatives. Earlier roles included executive marketing manager at McGraw-Hill, marketing manager at Pearson, and sales representative at Cengage–Course Technology.

Ms. McPherson has received numerous recognitions throughout her career, including selection for the Denver SUN program, winning the Startup OS Pitch Competition (2023), and being named an EdTech Week Startup Tank Finalist (2023). At Pearson, she earned multiple Product and Team of the Year awards in 2004, 2009, and 2018. Her industry engagement includes membership in the U.S. Small Business Chamber of Commerce, the Dell Women Entrepreneurs Network, Boulder New Technology, and Women in AI.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism from North Carolina State University (1992). A lifelong learner, she has completed the Google I&A Cohort (2025), the User Experience Design Immersive program at General Assembly (2021), StartEd's EdTech Industry Insider certification (2021), Pearson's Social Responsibility Level One (2018), and the GRIT Gauge™ program (2011). She is also credited with a 2019 patent for systems and methods for skill development, monitoring, and feedback.

Throughout her journey, Ms. McPherson has drawn strength from her parents' unwavering support, which instilled resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement. She believes in surrounding herself with exceptional people, listening deeply, and striving to improve by one percent each day.

Her civic engagement includes serving as a trusted advisor with Vistage; booster president for CVHS Gridiron (2022–2023); student mentor with Built By Girls (2021–2024); board member at Jarbly U (2020–2022); youth sports assistant coach (2013–2016); volunteer official for USA Swimming (2013–2015); and volunteer basketball official at Raleigh North Christian Center (2004–2011).
