Since 2015, he has served as a strategic consultant and operating advisor at Block Group LLC, providing interim C-suite leadership to reinvigorate underperforming companies, advising clients on long-term growth strategies, and offering pro bono mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs. He is currently developing a forthcoming book, The Architecture of Transformation, which presents a practical framework for becoming the full expression of one's potential.

From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Block served as CEO of Eastside Distilling—a leading vodka, bourbon, and tequila producer—where he provided governance and strategic oversight during a period of organizational change. Prior to that, he was President of GLG Life Tech Corp from 2018 to 2020, contributing to operational improvements and overseeing global sales and distribution. From 2016 to 2017, he served as CEO of Singer Sewing Company, where he assisted in strategic planning and the rejuvenation of the global business.

A signature milestone of Mr. Block's career was his tenure as chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and chief restructuring officer of Merisant Company—the maker of Equal and Canderel—from 2004 to 2015. During this time, he led a major corporate turnaround by restructuring the balance sheet, accelerating brand performance, and shifting the company's portfolio from synthetic sweeteners to natural alternatives, highlighted by the creation of the Whole Earth Sweetener brand. This transformation revitalized Merisant during a challenging era and earned both the company and Mr. Block the Atlas Group's Turnaround Company and Turnaround Executive of the Year awards.

Earlier, Mr. Block served as president and chief executive officer of Sara Lee Coffee & Tea USA from 2002 to 2004. Under his leadership, the organization streamlined processes, reduced costs, and increased revenue, ultimately boosting profits by more than $18 million in a single year. From 1999 to 2002, he was general manager of premium spirits and chief marketing officer at Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine, where he managed several high-profile global brands.

From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Block served as general manager of Dannon Water USA and chief marketing officer of Evian at Danone Waters. In this role, he led the development and launch of Dannon Water, which achieved $100 million in sales within its first two years—a milestone that earned him the Groupe Danone Chairman's Innovation Award, Brandweek's Marketer of the Year, and recognition as one of Advertising Age's Top 100 Marketers.

Mr. Block previously served as vice president of marketing at Guinness Import Company USA under United Distillers & Vintners from 1989 to 1993, where his innovative strategies earned him the company's Marketer of the Year award. He began his career at Miller Brewing Company, gaining foundational experience in marketing and product innovation that shaped his future leadership path.

Mr. Block earned a Bachelor of Science from Kent State University in 1979. Committed to continual development, he further strengthened his expertise through executive education in leadership, general management, and decision-making at Yale University, the Wharton School, and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Block attributes his success to his willingness to embrace risk, his perseverance, resilience, and his ability to shift his mindset for growth. Guided early by the motto "no risk, no reward," he has continually pursued opportunities for personal and professional development while encouraging others to realize their untapped potential.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. Block has been civically engaged as a past member of the Westport Board of Education, supporting academic initiatives in his community. He currently contributes to the SCORE Association, mentoring emerging entrepreneurs on leadership and best management practices. Looking ahead, he remains dedicated to mentoring others and aims to complete The Architecture of Transformation before promoting it through public speaking engagements.
