NEW SALISBURY, IN, December 03, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cynthia Cox has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Cox has established a distinguished career in health information management and clinical informatics, marked by nearly two decades of service at Family Health Centers in Louisville. Since 2021, she has held the position of Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, where she is responsible for protecting health information, ensuring that all patient data is properly documented and safeguarded, and leading efforts to enhance the security and efficiency of clinical workflows. In this capacity, Ms. Cox has collaborated with the Louisville Metro City and numerous organizations to address social determinants of health. She spearheaded the launch of a platform that connects community members with essential social services at her health center, filling a critical gap in health care access.

A significant achievement during her tenure as chief clinical informatics officer was the implementation of a new electronic health record system. Ms. Cox led her team in building this system from the ground up and successfully launched it within one year. The ongoing optimization of this platform has resulted in quarterly updates that improve provider efficiency, with plans to further expand its capabilities. Her expertise in workflow design and records management was instrumental in her promotion to this leadership role.

From 2008 to 2021, Ms. Cox served as Director of Health Information Management at Family Health Centers' Portland Avenue location. She oversaw all front office operations, health information management operations, and a centralized call center. Her responsibilities included collaborating with providers, managing schedules, and working extensively with electronic health records and workflows. Ms. Cox also led quality-improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and patient access. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was appointed to oversee the establishment of testing sites, ultimately managing four locations that became the region's primary testing centers.

Ms. Cox's earlier experience includes serving as medical records supervisor at CuraScript, Inc., an Express Scripts company, from 2007 to 2008. There, she focused on health information management in the revenue cycle management department. Before this role, she was director of health information management at Wellstone Regional Hospital from 2005 to 2006.

From 1999 to 2005, Ms. Cox worked as a medical record administrator at Kentucky State Reformatory during the introduction of the HIPAA Privacy Law. She participated in a state committee tasked with implementing privacy protocols and trained inmate first responders on HIPAA compliance and the importance of protecting patient privacy.

In addition to her administrative roles, Ms. Cox has contributed to academia as an adjunct faculty member and lead role at American National University from 2016 to 2017, and as an adjunct faculty member and health information technology program director at National College from 2007 to 2011. She is recognized for her expertise in privacy officer duties, compliance workflows, the creation of efficient processes, the prevention of staff burnout, and the robust protection of health information.

Ms. Cox maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Inc., the American Health Information Management Association, the Kentucky Blue Grass Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Inc., the Kentucky Integrated Care Network, the Kentucky Health Center Network and the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in health information management from the University of Cincinnati, earned in 2009. She also holds an associate's degree in health information management and technical diplomas in medical secretary, health care, and computer technology from National College of Business, completed in 1998. Additionally, she earned a technical diploma as a qualified medication assistant from Ivy Tech Community College in 1989 and a vocational diploma as a nursing assistant from Prosser Vocational School in 1988.

Ms. Cox was certified as a medication technician and a nursing assistant, credentials that laid the foundation for her early career in health care settings, such as nursing homes, where she administered medications and provided direct patient care.

She attributes her professional success to her mother's unwavering dedication to work, and the mentorship provided by Dr. Elizabeth Neichter during her early college years. These influences helped shape her commitment to helping those who cannot help themselves, a value that inspired her initial pursuit of nursing before transitioning into health information management following an injury that redirected her career path.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Cox has demonstrated civic engagement through volunteer work at a local hospital's medical records department in 2006 and with a support group for survivors of rape in 1990.

Her leadership has been recognized through awards such as the Five-Star HIPAA Privacy and Security Excellence honor presented by Kentucky Regional Extension Center to Family Health Centers under her guidance in 2025, as well as the Alumni Achievement Award from American National University in 1998.

Born in Jeffersonville, Ms. Cox enjoys spending weekends with her six grandchildren, whose ages range from two to 13 years old. She is passionate about mentoring students by partnering with local colleges to provide practical learning opportunities that prepare them for successful careers.

Looking ahead, Ms. Cox remains dedicated to empowering underserved communities by fostering greater engagement with their healthcare providers and supporting individuals in managing chronic illnesses so they can enjoy long, healthy lives alongside their families.
