MORRISTOWN, NJ, December 05, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pamela J. Sullivan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Sullivan has built a distinguished career in the field of grief support and has served as Head of Family Centers at Good Grief since 2023. In this role, she has played a vital part in bringing together children, teens, and adults who have experienced the death of an immediate family member. She oversees Good Grief's evening peer-support programs for children and families, ensuring they receive compassionate support and connection during some of their most challenging moments. Her leadership is defined by a deep commitment to fostering community, strengthening resilience, and ensuring that grieving families have access to the essential resources they need, impacting thousands of families throughout her tenure.
Ms. Sullivan's longstanding association with Good Grief began in 2007 when she joined as a volunteer facilitator and later expanded her role to include Team Coordinator. Over the years, she has played a pivotal part in shaping the organization's peer-support model, drawing on her lived experience and connection with the families and volunteers to strengthen Good Grief's ability to support grieving families.
In 2013, Pam joined the staff of Good Grief, where from 2013 to 2015, she served as Alumni Coordinator, maintaining meaningful connections with program graduates and ensuring families continued to have access to community and resources beyond their participation in Nights of Support.
From 2016 to 2018, Ms. Sullivan took on the role of Community Outreach Coordinator where she expanded the organization's reach, strengthened volunteer engagement, and supported the development of new initiatives to better serve families navigating loss. Her contributions during this time significantly enhanced Good Grief's visibility and impact within the community.
In 2018, she transitioned into the role of Donor Engagement Officer, cultivating relationships with supporters and helping secure critical funding for programs and services and held that position until 2020.
Ms. Sullivan is widely recognized across the Good Grief community—and beyond—for her extraordinary ability to listen deeply to grieving children and adults, to hold space for even the most complex and painful losses, and to model compassionate, skillful facilitation for volunteers and Team Coordinators alike. Her knowledge and experience were put to good use in writing and creating all of the program content for the 19 theme-based activities, selecting books for all age groups as well as developing training materials for volunteers. After the pandemic, she reinstated and reenvisioned Enrichment Events for families to socialize and connect with one another outside of the Centers. Her expertise in companioning families through spouse, child, and caregiver loss, as well as her strengths in guiding children's peer-support groups, reflects her exceptional dedication and her profound understanding of the needs of grieving families.
In addition to her work at Good Grief, Ms. Sullivan has served as a lead grief facilitator at Facebook's virtual program for adults called Option B and also as Lead Facilitator of children's groups at Common Ground Grief Center in Manasquan, New Jersey. Her work with these groups allowed her to observe and implement best practices in supporting children and adults through bereavement, further enhancing her expertise in facilitating all age groups and all types of loss.
Ms. Sullivan continues to seek opportunities for professional growth as a participating thought leader through collaboration with other bereavement centers and grief-support organizations locally and nationally. Her partnerships include long-standing connections with renowned centers like the Dougy Center, Imagine, Common Ground, and Stephy's Place. She is also a member of the National Alliance for Children's Grief. She actively engages with leading grief professionals, including Donna Schuurman, Alan Wolfelt and David Kessler, to remain aligned with best practices in the field.
Her ongoing dedication is reflected not only in her professional accomplishments but also in her commitment to continuous learning in order to elevate the standards of peer support. By bringing this knowledge back to Good Grief, she ensures that families throughout New Jersey—and beyond—receive compassionate, informed, and high-quality support during their grief journeys.
Before dedicating herself to grief support work, Ms. Sullivan built a foundation in Fashion work. Early in her career, she spent twelve years immersed in the fashion industry at three different accessory firms located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, the epicenter of accessory design and wholesale operations. After relocating to New Jersey, her focus pivoted from wholesale design and sales to merchandising, styling and retail sales in a nearby chain of specialty shops. This role eventually became part-time as she balanced professional responsibilities with family life while raising her three children. This experience provided her with a keen sense of style and creativity that continues to influence her work today especially as it pertains to utilizing color and design as a means of emotional expression.
Academically, Ms. Sullivan earned a bachelor's degree in fashion design and merchandising from Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her education laid the groundwork for her early success in the fashion industry. It fostered a lifelong passion for creative expression, qualities that have proven invaluable throughout her career in grief support. Inspired by her mother's artistry and classic sense of style reminiscent of Jackie Onassis, Ms. Sullivan developed an inventive approach to both fashion, home design and decorating as evident in the shared spaces of the Good Grief Centers.
The transition from fashion to grief counseling was influenced by her husband Pat's involvement with the organization as a founding member of Good Grief and as Board Chair for several years. Ms. Sullivan recognized the need for support in the community and had a strong desire to take an active role in the work. The couple's shared commitment helped with the incredible growth of Good Grief from just an idea to a place where thousands of grieving participants find help each year. Their dedication to Good Grief also inspired their now-adult children to also contribute countless volunteer hours over the years, a testament to the family's collective dedication.
In addition to her primary roles, Ms. Sullivan has served as a board member for Preschool Advantage since 2022, supporting early childhood education initiatives within her community.
Her achievements have been recognized through several prestigious honors, including being named one of the Top 25 New Jersey Women to Watch in 2025 and inclusion among the Top 50 Women Leaders of New Jersey by Women We Admire for three consecutive years.
Ms. Sullivan remains deeply committed to Good Grief's mission of ensuring that no child has to grieve alone. She believes that peer support, added resources and community education not only helps families heal today but will also lay the foundation for a future in which the next generation is equipped with the understanding, compassion, and resilience needed to grow, thrive, and move into healthy adulthood. For Ms. Sullivan, this work is both a personal calling and a profound responsibility—one that allows her to contribute meaningfully to a community she cares about while helping to secure a healthier, more hopeful future for grieving families.
