LOS ANGELES, CA, December 08, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- H.E. Candice A. Pitts, PhD, JP, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Marked by her commitment to public service, community development, and international representation, Dr. Pitts has led a remarkable career as a diplomat, political leader, and educator. In her current capacity as the City Administrator for Belize City, she manages the daily operations of the City Council, liaises between the council and the general public, and implements policies crafted by the Mayor and elected Councilors in collaboration with city council staff. Her lifelong passion for service stems from the values instilled by her mother as well as her own intellectual curiosity and faith, both of which have provided guidance throughout her career.

From 2021 to 2025, Dr. Pitts served as Belize's Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan), where she played a pivotal role in fostering bilateral relations between the two countries. During her tenure, she initiated several impactful bilateral efforts, including sister school and sister city partnerships that strengthened educational and cultural ties between Belize and Taiwan. Upon the completion of her mission, the government of Taiwan awarded her the Grand Cordon of the Order of Brilliant Star, acknowledging her contributions to enhancing diplomatic relations.

Additionally, Dr. Pitts was appointed as a non-resident Ambassador of Belize to Japan from 2022 to 2025, further expanding Belize's diplomatic outreach in East Asia. Prior to these ambassadorial roles, she contributed to local governance as an elected Councilwoman for Belize City from 2018 to 2021, where she played a key role in municipal policy development and drove a wide range of community-centered initiatives.

Also recognized for her work within the educational sector, Dr. Pitts was an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Belize from 2016 to 2019, Albany State University from 2014 to 2016, and James Madison University during the 2013 to 2014 school year. In each of these roles, she advanced higher education through teaching, research, and curriculum development with an emphasis on the importance of public service.

Outside of her primary roles, Dr. Pitts is affiliated professionally with both diplomatic and academic communities and was an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Taipei from 2022 to 2025, Secretary of the Diplomatic Corps in Taiwan from 2023 to 2025, and member of College Language Association from 2008 to 2019.

Hailing from an equally extensive and foundational educational background, Dr. Pitts is currently pursuing a Law degree at the University of London, furthering her expertise in legal frameworks relevant to international relations. In 2024, she completed a global Master of Arts program in International Relations and Diplomacy at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Earlier in her academic journey, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in English with a focus on Caribbean Literature and Studies from Howard University in 2015, a Master of Arts in English Literature from The Ohio State University in 2008, a Bachelor's degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Albany State University in 2005, and an Associate degree (Honors) from Belize's St. John's College Junior College in 2002.

To augment her knowledge and qualifications, Dr. Pitts is certified in Diplomatic Law with a focus on privileges and immunities as well as in Sustainable Development Diplomacy and Multilateral Diplomacy — all by Diplo Academy.

Among her numerous honors are her appointment as Justice of the Peace by the Attorney General of Belize, which serves as an extension of her commitment to public service and impactful leadership; her receipt of the Golden Merchant Award for Most Outstanding Foreign Embassy by the General Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan; and her receipt of a service award from the Anglican Dioceses of New York for her contributions to community and national developments.

In addition to her governance and diplomatic efforts, Dr. Pitts has contributed scholarly articles on Caribbean literature, nationhood and pedagogy through several publications. Her research has been published in influential journals, including Wasafari, Tout Moun: Caribbean Journal of Cultural Studies, The College Language Association Journal, and the Journal of West Indian Literature, furthering her impact on discussions of culture, representation and international relations.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Pitts enjoys playing the piano, traveling, and reading both fiction and non-fiction novels, as well as works on geopolitics.
