Recognized for his longstanding dedication to service and helping those in need, Mr. Cavaggioni has led a distinguished career marked by two decades of military service, federal service, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. His professional journey began in 2002 when he enlisted in the United States Navy, motivated by a desire to fund his college education and inspired by his family's guidance and the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. His early years in the Navy were spent as an administrative assistant on the USS Kearsarge, where he developed foundational skills in managing supply and operations departments also participating in weapons training and serving as part of the Ship Self Defense Force. He completed three combat deployments and earned his combat action ribbon in 2005 when the ship's entry control point was attacked by Al Qaeda.
From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Cavaggioni served as a recruiter and assistant recruiter in charge for the Navy, where he was responsible for identifying and mentoring new trainees. Further honing his leadership abilities, he advanced to the role of administrative leading petty officer and security manager aboard the USS Gonzalez. While deployed as the detainee handling team lead, he participated in multiple anti-piracy and anti-terrorism missions off the coast of Somalia and qualified as an anti-terrorism watch officer.
Continuing his ascent through the ranks, Mr. Cavaggioni was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy, and assigned to the USS Theodore Roosevelt. He he earned his surface warfare officer qualification, demonstrating his advanced proficiency in shipboard operations. He played a pivotal role during a critical refueling overhaul and ensuring operational readiness for the ship as they returned to fleet operations.
Having expanded his expertise in fleet operations, planning and interagency coordination, Mr. Cavaggioni went on to excel as director of administration and total force management for Naval Special Warfare Group TEN. He completed the expeditionary combat skills course and deployed to Iraq as part of the joint special operations forces against extremist terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria. Following a successful tour with Naval Special Warfare he assumed the duties as executive officer at U.S. Pacific Fleet from 2018 to 2021. Stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, he led a staff of 300 personnel while managing a travel and logistics budget of more than $350,000. He then assumed his final position of his military career as the military personnel officer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility and retiring after 20-years of dedicated service.
Mr. Cavaggioni began his federal service career when he was appointed as the director of administration of Navy Information Operations Command Pacific. When he assumed this role, the department was facing scrutiny after a failed inspection. He led a remarkable transformation by developing standard operating procedures for each role, empowering employees to work independently and fostering an environment where his staff could thrive without constant supervision.
Following his experiences with diverse commands and environments around the world as well as his success as the director of administration, Mr. Cavaggioni was named executive director of Navy Information Operations Command Pacific in 2024. In his current capacity, he manages a staff of over 2,200 military personnel and federal service employees, ensuring the execution of strategic initiatives aligned with national security objectives, financial management initiatives, risk mitigation, and all administrative functions.
Throughout his journey of service, management, and mentorship, Mr. Cavaggioni has been recognized with several honors including four Navy Commendation Medals, four Navy Achievement Medals, the Combat Action Ribbon, and a monetary award from Navy Information Operations Command Pacific for outstanding leadership from 2023 to 2024.
Parallel to his federal service, Mr. Cavaggioni has managed a successful entrepreneurial enterprise as president of Average Joe Finances since 2019. He launched a personal finance podcast in 2020 that continues to grow in reach and influence, with listeners frequently sharing how episodes have positively impacted their financial well-being. The show features interviews with high-profile real estate investors, wealth management experts, and business owners and is available on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Since 2021, Mr. Cavaggioni has also served as president of Edit Pods, providing podcast editing and social media management services to numerous clients across the finance and psychology sectors. Additionally, he worked as a realtor with Real Broker LLC from 2020 to 2025, leveraging his expertise to guide clients in real estate sales and purchases.
Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Mr. Cavaggioni earned a bachelor's degree in organizational management, graduating summa cum laude from The University of Arizona Global Campus in 2024. He also completed coursework in military joint operations planning and strategy at Joint Forces Staff College through National Defense University in 2010. To augment his qualifications, he was certified as a licensed realtor by the State of Hawaii in 2020 and designated as customs and border agent afloat by the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2010. He is currently enrolled in a master of business administration program with Hawaii Pacific University with an anticipated graduation in December 2026.
Also at the heart of Mr. Cavaggioni's values is civic engagement; he is actively involved with organizations such as Irreverent Warriors — which brings military veterans together with a focus on community and mental health support —as well as the Dearonne and Pamela Bethea Foundation. Alongside his family in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, he participates in charitable activities including feeding individuals who are homeless during Thanksgiving and supporting disaster relief efforts such as those following the Maui wildfires.
Happily married and a proud father of two teenage daughters, Mr. Cavaggioni enjoys fishing, kayaking, hiking, sailing, and spending quality time with his family as a balance to his professional pursuits. In the coming years, he intends to retire fully from federal service, continue to expand his podcasting ventures, remain active as a mentor and make a lasting positive impact through his entrepreneurial initiatives.
