Undeterred, he and his daughter worked tirelessly from an old tool truck through inclement weather until they were able to purchase their current building in July of that year. Starting over from scratch, they relied on Mr. Kope's extensive knowledge and his daughter's skills to rebuild the business. Before founding Ed's Automotive and Services LLC, Mr. Kope dedicated more than 20 years to working with tractor-trailers across several companies. His career began after graduation at Great Dane Trailers, where he was hired through a connection from his parents. He then advanced to Utility Trailer before joining Tri State Trailer. His subsequent tenure was at Keen Leasing under Jesse Keen, whom he credits as an outstanding boss and mentor. Mr. Kope remained with Keen Leasing for many years until its acquisition by Rollins Truck Leasing, where he continued for about one year.

Seeking new opportunities, Mr. Kope transitioned to Ryder Truck Rental and Leasing, where he expanded his expertise in refrigeration and air conditioning systems for tractor-trailers by attending specialized training schools for Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration systems. At Ryder, he worked exclusively on Pepperidge Farm vehicles and joined a union based in Robesonia, Pennsylvania.

Throughout these roles, Mr. Kope frequently adapted to industry changes while maintaining a steadfast commitment to professional growth. After recovering from a brief hospitalization due to an illness, he joined Meineke as a part-time mechanic specializing in diagnostics and repairs. In 2010, Mr. Kope began working at a new company alongside his son as a mechanic. Over time, he transformed a $440,000 investment into a million-dollar store through dedication and skillful management. Despite being turned down for a market manager position because he did not hold an associate's or bachelor's degree, he continued to excel at the store level by leveraging his mechanical expertise.

Mr. Kope has become widely recognized as an expert in engine diagnostics, a distinction earned through decades of hands-on experience rather than formal education. He is certified in Carrier refrigeration systems and has completed various training programs related to Thermo King refrigeration systems for tractor-trailers. Mr. Kope's approach to learning has always been practical. Notably, he taught himself every aspect of his trade and passed this hands-on methodology on to his daughter when she joined him in business.

Mr. Kope's professional philosophy centers on integrity, resourcefulness and putting others before himself. He takes immense pride in knowing that everyone who enters his shop leaves safely, a testament to both his technical proficiency and ethical standards.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Kope is deeply involved in civic activities throughout the community. He donates regularly to Annville-Cleona School initiatives, including scholarships and Christmas programs for underprivileged children. He also volunteers with Wounded Warriors and provides pro bono vehicle safety work, especially for single mothers and those facing financial hardship.

Mr. Kope's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including Best Mechanic, the Best Review Award from Google, the Dutchman's Award from the school board, and other recognition for service excellence. Inspired by family members who worked with tractor-trailers, including his grandfather, who built Fruehauf trailers while his father worked for Hall's Motor Freight in Carlisle, he naturally gravitated toward the field.
