Ms. Shankar has established herself as a distinguished leader in global brand management, committing two decades to Procter & Gamble and rising to the role of vice president and chief marketing officer of Vicks for the global P&G. In this capacity since 2024, she is responsible for shaping the five-year vision for the brand, redefining its global expression and collaborating with regional leaders to upgrade equity, packaging and innovation. Her efforts are focused on propelling the brand, already the #1 cough and cold brand in the world; toward a target of $4 billion by 2030, building robust innovation pipelines, and leveraging emerging digital and artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity and brand-building capabilities across the company.
Prior to this role, Ms. Shankar served as the vice president of personal health care for Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, based in Singapore, from 2022 to 2024, during which time she oversaw regional business operations and drove growth strategies and market expansion; leading cross-functional teams and implementing transformative marketing initiatives.
Between 2020 and 2023, Ms. Shankar also held the position of senior director and leader of #WeSeeEqual at Procter & Gamble in Singapore. She spearheaded the flagship gender equality summit, organizing it for two consecutive years and inviting prominent figures such as Indra Nooyi and Priyanka Chopra. When she assumed responsibility, Pampers Pants ranked fifth globally with revenues of $500 million. Under her leadership, she redefined priorities, communication strategies and product innovations, relaunching the brand in more than 50 markets worldwide. By the end of her tenure, Pampers Pants had achieved $2.5 billion in revenue and became the leading brand globally.
Between 2012 and 2017, Ms. Shankar was the brand director for global innovation in baby care at both Singapore and Geneva locations, where she continued to drive product development and market expansion initiatives. As the brand director for brand building capability for Asia from 2010 to 2014, she developed training programs that elevated marketing standards across the region.
Ms. Shankar's previous roles include serving as the brand director for skin care for the Asia-Pacific from 2010 until 2012 and as a brand manager for beauty care for the same region between 2006 and 2010. She began her professional journey as a summer intern with Deutsche Bank Capital Markets in 2005 before choosing to pursue her passion for brand management at Procter & Gamble.
Instrumental in shaping Ms. Shankar's expertise as a brand builder was her academic background. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 2004, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad in 2006. She further enhanced her credentials with a certificate in competing in the age of artificial intelligence from Harvard Business School Online in 2023.
Throughout her career, Ms. Shankar has demonstrated exceptional skill in building brands that positively impact lives worldwide, earning recognition for her visionary leadership. She encourages individuals to follow their heart and have the courage to make decisions that resonate with themselves, regardless of others' opinions. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she is an active supporter of World Vision.
Looking ahead, Ms. Shankar aims to continue holding leadership positions at Procter & Gamble while exploring opportunities to contribute more significantly to health and wellness initiatives and sustainable development.
