/24-7PressRelease/ - Nashville, TN, June 11, 2008, Dr. Cornell D. Lane, Associate Professor for Tennessee State University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of public and higher education.
Dr. Lane has 45 years of experience as an educator, which he has spent honing an expertise in consulting and in practicing, directing and teaching special education and psychology. As associate professor for Tennessee State, he is responsible for these areas, which cover recruiting and professional development.
In addition to receiving his Doctor of Education from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Lane, a charter member and former regional director of the National Association of School Psychology (NASP), has earned numerous grants and honors. These include a grant for "The Teacher Preparation Project: Improving the Preparation of Personnel to Serve Children with High-Incidence Disabilities" from the United States Department of Education, a grant for "The Make a Difference Project" from the Tennessee State Department of Education, and a grant for "Base-TN Imitative at Tennessee State University," also from the Tennessee State Department of Education, as well as a Changing Lives Award from Georgia Peabody College, a Program Designer and Publisher Award from NASP, and a Founder's Day Alumni Award from Tennessee State University. Dr. Lane has held national offices in his field and served on several boards, including the Board of Visitors at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the Developmental Learning Center in Nashville. He has also been a folio reviewer for NASP and a book reviewer for the Journal of Psycholoeducational Assessment.
Dr. Lane's career-related activities include serving as Director of Psychology and Special Education for the Metro Board of Education in Nashville, as Hearing Officer for the State Department of Education's Right to Education Office, and as Adjunct Professor for George Peabody College. He has produced and directed a documentary on school psychology, entitled, "Role and Function of the School Psychologist," which is now part of the NASP archives. Dr. Lane attributes his success to working hard and choosing a profession that allows him to combine his training, value system and way of life.
