Before entering academia full-time, Dr. Moskowitz built an accomplished career as a consultant in economics and technology for think tanks and government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The events following September 11th prompted him to pursue teaching as a primary vocation.
Dr. Moskowitz's educational background is foundational to his professional achievements. His undergraduate studies culminated with a Bachelor of Science in physics with a minor in mathematics, magna cum laude, from City College of New York in 1974, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Moskowitz also completed a Master of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in history at Columbia University in 1982 and a Doctor of Philosophy in economic history and history of technology from Columbia University in 1999.
In addition to his academic appointments, Dr. Moskowitz is an associate fellow with the Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development. He has also provided expert witness testimony in court cases involving high-tech firms and continues to be recognized as a leading technology industry consultant.
